Really? No chatter about the new Wii? (in Off-topic)

Me thinks they'll have a traditional controller this time around. They're probably just holding back to showcase the 6.2" touchscreen. With PS3's market share shrinking against the 360, now's the chance for Ninty to take a piece of their pie, especially considering Japan loves the big N. Also, sticking to the non-traditional gamer market for another round is questionable since much of that demographic won't jump for an upgrade.

Mark my words, though. There will be a traditional controller in the future. :)

Never owned any consoles, probably never will. PC gaming FTW !

I think it looks pretty stupid imo.

It looks like a mess of technology all shoved into one package. I think the only way they can make this worth the money is if they focus more on online content and remove all the walled gardens of the console. I don't really think that is what they are doing and they need a "killer app" in order to make this new console worth the expense. I don't think that gimmicky looking controller is NOT a killer app.

BTW: Fact Sheet

Look at this thing:

Yeah, why don't they just call it: NINTENDO DS & Console.

I concur. PC gaming is so much better than consoles. I don't even know why they still try to continue to make them.

Online content (including DLC) is where the market is headed, but without a hefty hard drive, this ain't it. It looks like MS is safe, especially with their news of cloud-based saves and profiles.

This is a clip for the controller -- not the console.

Pays better. Sadly.
Also, much harder for the regular person to pirate the games on a console without much effort, whereas on the PC...

Online content (including DLC) is where the market is headed Online multiplayer too, which is why this new controller is strange. Its a step in the opposite direction back to split screen. Using the touchpad to play will also be bad - no tactile feedback so you would need to be looking away from the tv and at the controller.

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] June 8 2011 12:44 PM EDT

Another interesting question is how many of those touch controllers it can support. While no specs have been released, it will have to be a pretty decent GPU to create a screen for the tv and each of the controllers.

Demigod June 8 2011 1:53 PM EDT

The controller should have its own GPU to handle that.

If this had a touchpad on the back, the future of triggers, I could see a handful of sweet gimmicks taking place.
