Am I fighting through inactive characters (in General)

Ive recently returned to CB after MANY years away. Ive started my old character and begun fighting my way through the lists again. I was wondering if most of my opponents are abandoned characters left with their gear and wads of cash. I looked at the stats page and 8689 characters have been created but only 109 have fought in the last 7 days. Does that mean there is a sea of inactive characters?

Dont get me wrong, its nice to have opponents at my level because if they are all abandoned and were removed I would be losing to much higher opponents.

I know at least one isn't inactive ;)

A few of the chars are probably 'farms' while the majority are inactive user's abandoned chars... the inactive user purge isn't a regular thing like most people would think it is.
