When it says 50% + 9g environmental award. I really thought it would give me a bonus of 9g every time I go out on an adventure. But it doesn't, so what does it mean then?

you only get the environmental award when you actually purchase (or extend) the dragon but the real benefit is the 50% duration which translates into twice as much thirst & thus twice as much growth :)
