A few NCB questions (in General)

Waldo March 11 2012 6:14 PM EDT

OK I plan on starting a NCB after my NUB is over. I know what strat I am going to us but I have a couple of questions.

1) Encumbrance: I understand it does not affect enchanters at all but what about familiars? Do they have encumbrance? If so how can I tell what it is or what effect it will have? (Note I will be using a mage familiar and an AoJ)

2) BA regen rate: If I keep my current char unretired will my regen rate stay at 7 or will it reset according to which char uses the BA?

3) BA buying costs: Well this is the part that worries me the most-having only had free BA so far-how much does BA cost normally & how much would it be for a NCB at different regen rates?

That's pretty much the base of my questions (tho more may arise.) I know that I could probably find the answers to most, if not all, of these questions from the wiki but I wanted to get people talking (since it was pointed out that the wiki has kinda killed strat talk.)

1. it does not affect familiars.
2. it will go back to 10 if you retire current char.
3. really cheap with no other character active.

Expanding on the above:

2. It will change back to 10 if you play your NCB for like a day or so I believe, whatever your active char is your BA regen rate setter. Although I recommend retiring your other char, buying BA till 1600 and then un-retiring it.

3. BA costs for NCBs are very expensive. It's whatever it would cost for a non char*bonus. I believe bonus is around 600% or so, or x7. If that were true my BA would cost 7x$1503 or $10535 per BA. Usually with an NCB you either buy only at the beginning and maybe a little here and there, or you go all out, which is insanely expensive.

I've been buying my ba everyday on this NCB and it's currently costing me about a million a day.

This is false. It only sets the rate based upon the largest active character, meaning the largest unretired character you have.

yea, guess I was a *bit* vague, lol.

OK so as I see it.

1) Encumbrance does not affect familiars at all (this is good)
2) Regen rate according to highest unretired char (ie it will stay at 7 unless I unretire current char or MPR slips below the mark due to none use)
3) Varied responses here but johnny has the most direct info since he is currently running a NCB--so I will assume ~1M/day

so my only remaining question is should I retire Kings of Xanth or not (ie which would be most productive assuming I will catch all BA regardless) and what was the 1600 comment about? i assume it has something to do with the BA costs and such but am not clear on it

As for the encumbrance, do not forget it will still add to your PR. It will most likely lower your challenge bonus.

Pretty much you have to retire your main char to be able to buy the maximum amount of ba and cheaper. Then you have to stop playing for 6 days or whenever you hit 1600 ba. You log in once a day and buy your ba and don't finish it.

He's a month an a half into his NCB; it will double in less than that time again.

Here's the exact statement from the 'get more' ba link:

"You may purchase up to 216 BA for $5,194 apiece."

I probably have 2 weeks left before I can't afford to buy every day without buying CBD. And it's a pain at the level I'm at, I had a tidy amount of targets, now I've hit a deadzone, where the next level of opponents are all higher MPR that have sunk down who I cannot beat. So in effect without a decent challenge bonus the bought ba is losing value.

Not many clan target either, so not really worth being in a clan right now, which is shame cos I'm missing out on XP from that too.

You must absolutely retire your larger character if you want to run an ncb. The ba rate is a reduced amount however your ncb will not receive the corresponding modification to the base reward amount for it. So basically its like you stalemate for however many ba the amount is less than the ncb would naturally have.
