I've long thought this list is far too long, and in all my questioning about it, Jon answered with "GL you've lost the feeling of moving up the Weapons Ranks". To this day, I disagree with that answer.
When CB2 started, no one moved up the weapon ranks at all, and with the advent of the N*B and the size it has grown, that is far more evident today.
Also, it is a waste at best, a newbie trap at work, to ever think or suggest upgrading a non rare weapon.
So, can we scale this list down at all?
I'm going to remove all the 'rare' weapons, and add some more information to what's left.
Scythe: [48] 2H Hafted
Two-Handed Flail: [66] 2H Hafted
Great Axe: [56] 2H Hafted
Halberd: [52] 2H Polearm
Lochaber Axe: [50] 2H Hafted
Beaked Axe: [34] 1H Hafted
Claymore: [38] 1H Edged
Morning Star: [36] 1H Hammer
Whip: [9] 1H Hafted
Lucerne Hammer: [28] 1H Hammer
Glaive: [42] 2H Polearm
Bastard Sword: [40] 1H Edged
Awl-Pike: [17] 2H Polearm
Battle Axe: [44] 1H Hafted
Long Sword: [24]1H Edged
Broad Sword: [30] 1H Edged
War Hammer: [20] 1H Hammer
Dagger: [4] 1H Edged
Main Gauche: [6] 1H Edged
Tulwar: [18] 1H Edged

There are some distinct types of Weapons. 1 or 2 Handed. Edged, Hammer, Hafted, Polearm.
Of which 1H, 2H, Edged and Hammer have thier own distinct special rules. As of yet, Hafted and Polearm do not. But let's kep these extra type, for future proofing. ;)
From the list above, it's easy to see that 1H Edged Weapons are bloated. And a lot of weapons are redundant.
There needs to be some choice to starting weapons, but there's too much currently. And there doesn't need to be at most, more than two version of the same hand/type of weapon. And 'base' weapon of that type and a 'top tier' version.
With this in mind, I would suggest we cut the list down to; (base damages are just examples)
1H Edged
Dagger [4] (Entry level Weapon)
Curved Sword [14]
Arming Sword [27]
2H Edged (currently no 'non rare' version)
Claymore [40]
Zweihander [60]
1H Hammer
Mace [20]
Flail [30]
2H Hammer (again no 'non rare' versions)
War Hammer [45]
Morning Star [62]
1H Hafted
Whip [9] (Entry level Weapon)
Beaked Axe [22]
Battle Axe[35]
2H Hafted
Scythe [47]
Lochaber Axe [65]
1H Polearm (no 'none rare' versions currently)
Glaive [24]
Lance [32]
2H Polearm
Awl-Pike [50]
Halberd [63]
Making the list look something like (by order of base damage);
Dagger [4] 1H Edged
Whip [9] 1H Hafted
Curved Sword [14] 1H Edged
Mace [20] 1H Hammer
Beaked Axe [22] 1H Hafted
Glaive [24] 1H Polearm
Arming Sword [27] 1H Edged
Flail [30] 1H Hammer
Lance [32] 1H Polearm
Battle Axe[35] 1H Hafted
Claymore [40] 2H Edged
War Hammer [45] 2H Hammer
Scythe [47] 2H Hafted
Awl-Pike [50] 2H Polearm
Zweihander [60] 2H Edged
Morning Star [62] 2H Hammer
Halberd [63] 2H Polearm
Lochaber Axe [65] 2H Hafted
I still feel this is slightly too much, but an improvement on what we have now.
If there's no plans to give Hafted/Polearm weapons thier own properties, I'd advise just removeing them. But as I said, future proofing. ;)
Long post, thanks for the read!
