Why the 1 minute bans for being in two fights? (in General)
Actually, that may be a deceptive title, but I wasn't sure how to better word it. I get this ban relatively often, and while it's not too bad since it's just a minute, it really is pretty annoying. I get it because my computer gets laggy and so I hit enter faster than it loads the page and then I get this message. My question isn't why does this exist, because I know why; to catch bots or whatever. My question is instead, why was the solution to have small bans? Is it really that hard to code in something that just keeps that from happening at all? I don't code at ALL so this is a serious question, I'm not trying to be an ass. It seems to me that if the game can recognize when this is happening, there could be some solution that doesn't let you be in multiple battles, rather than handing out little fight bans. Because while the ban would surely be effective against any bots, it seems to me like it is happening about 95% of the time to people like me who are just impatient and have slower connections. Anyway, just a little pet peeve of mine haha, don't know if there really is any way to fix this.
Also, sorry if this might be the wrong forum to post this in. I forgot to go through the forum list and see if there was a better place for this.
No this is the right place to post it. I think the problem is that you might be hitting the fight button too fast or something. Either that, or something is horribly broken. :)
Sorry, I tried to make this clear but my block of text may have ended up more confusing than anything else. I know what's causing it, I just mean, why is it there at all? If the answer is "bots", then couldn't there be a simpler solution that doesn't result in tons of annoying bans for players not using bots and just have lag or are impatiently overclicking?
Yeah, re-reading my original post, it's pretty indecipherable. Sorry about that. :P

I believe it's more of a prevention against people hammering the server rather than a concern with bots. We have bot checks for that purpose, and holy moly are those more annoying than the 1-minute bans.
The short ban was a change from a progressive, longer ban that went from 10 minutes to an hour? . We were having some server-related troubles and everyone was getting the long bans all the time, so the "hey you, knock it off" was reduced to a minute and then not re-upped.
Couldn't there be like an infinitesimal delay where the game doesn't recognize your click, to avoid this without having to give out bans? That's what I mean. It seems like a flaw that you get server issues from people clicking too fast that has been given a band-aid rather than a fix, is what I mean.

We're pretty scarce on coder time lately, and such a feature might come with bugs that take god knows how long to get fixed. And either way, the coding would probably end up being client-side anyway (some browser timer to disable sending events), and it might end up more annoying than helpful.
On the flip side, people seldom have even 20 people in the fight list (that's a lazy fight list, halfway decent fight lists are 10 or under) and the "respawn" happens every 30 seconds or thereabouts, so hitting enter or clicking once every half second (or preferably once per second) should not be that much of a big deal.
All in all, pacing yourself is probably the better option.
And the reduction from 10 minutes and escalating to 1 minute fixed duration helps a lot compared to how it used to be.
