Strategy Idea (in General)

Newlin [SeeD] November 1 2014 3:24 PM EDT

Just a quick thought I had on a potential 2 minion strategy - feel free to discuss and expose it's weaknesses :)

Enchanter
----------
Small GA
Max EC

Tank
---------
Max HP
Archery
Small AMF

ToA based Mageseeker

The idea here is to nullify most opposing tanks with a very sizeable EC and rely on an equally large Mageseeker to pick off the mages that would otherwise give trouble. The Strength and Dex would be purely that which is granted by the ToA with most of the exp on that minion going to HP to survive GA and ranged magic.

An ES would probably be a must to combat any high AC walls in melee rounds.

I might try something like this out after my NCB is finished up, good idea

The basic mage/DM would give it troubles. Once you got past the 2mill MPR, most of those characters are weeded out and you could probably do well with it.

With a large enough bow and BGs I think you would be alright. Even if you come up against such a character most of their EXP in DM is essentially wasted on you anyway.

I think you would get munched against anything with GA trained. Your damage isn't going to be high enough to not worry about it due to the mage seeker, and your AC isn't going to be high enough to mitigate it.

Still a good strat! I think RoS based mage teams would be able to come out on top, with the mage packing some AC to survive ranged. You won't be able to dispel steel skin.

"you wont be able to dispel steel skin"

good point.

A solid RoS team with plenty of AS and GA would probably win 9 times out of ten against this setup. You could always try a Mithril Shield to mitigate some GA backlash.

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] November 1 2014 10:04 PM EDT

No point to have GA or AMF trained. You will lose to any/all same sized RoS/AS/GA strats.

You will lose to any/all same sized RoBF Wall/PL strats.

You will lose to any/all same sized single minion Exbow/ELB strats.

At the end of the day, you will probably be only able to farm mages in which case the EC seems kind of pointless.

I still think it would beat a lot of teams though!

It would be at a disadvantage to a team that devoted experience / tattoo levels to str as well.

For example:

EC at 50% experience will cancel out 25% of dex/str. With a BoE, corn and spell boosters lets call this 32.5% of experience. Due to the large amount of str boosting gear (not even counting a ToA), a team would only have to train 16.25% of their exp into str to break even, and anything above that would start outpacing the EC. If they had an Axbow they could still drain your dex, unless you wore DB which would hurt you even more against GA.

That's quite a whopper of a disadvantage for 50% of your experience!

Now enc is a thing, so it's a little more complicated then that, but you get the basic idea :)

You just showed how it wouldn't beat a lot of teams...

I fail to see how the strategy beats a lot of teams.

Having a strategy that trained ONLY EC with a min of HP and wore an RoBF could probably beat more teams, at least in the lower levels where mixed damage is not too common.

I have a similar strat and it works quite well. Not as focused as yours is though.
