Status of the game? (in General)

Just wondering. I am sure this subject has come up several times over the last few years.

What is the current status of this game? The impression I have is that the code is dead and that no one is maintaining it anymore.

I stopped playing this game around 2009/2010 and just started again this month. When I decided to start again, I actually looked in the mobile app stores for it and was surprised it wasn't there.

If the game code is still alive, I am sure creating a mobile app interface would not be overly complicated. It would recruit a whole new generation of users and would almost certainly switch it back into high gear.

Anyways, I just wanted to see what people had to say about this because I think it would be a shame to see this game, which has so much potential, disappear.

Currently nobody is working on it. Via email I chatted with Nightstrike and there was some interest if we found someone to code for them to do some work. Unfortunately it is not a common coding language.

The other option is to give an incentive ($) to have one of the old coders come back then that could be an option. I think to get this game back up we need to 1. fix chat and 2. create an app. Like you said lots of people play on their phones these days.

nothing going on here at all. seems like this game was the foundation for the pay to win model of free gaming that dominates the app stores. Problem is, all the people who are on top now paid there way there, and now there aren't enough people playing for anyone to catch up. just go back and read some old forum posts to see the game stagnate. the top few teams have net worths that are impossible to compete against with any amount of MPR on a NUB, and youd need a few years at least to catch up the old fashion way, and that's if none of them come back. I really think this game could succeed on a mobile platform with access to a store that anyone can buy money from, but in its current state its pretty much a model for how not to run a pay to win game.

Actually, I disagree with that assessment. I did not buy much and sold more than I bought. I am on the top of the heap right now but got there honestly.

You can with good planning and a NUB or NCB get dang close to the top characters PR. There are still characters out there with more PR than me but they are mostly abandoned. That's good for NUB/NCB runs as the gain per BA is based on the high end character.

Equipment will be the tough part, but I'm betting that if you wanted to buy CBD with USD and offered a decent price you could do that too. Offer 5 USD/1M CBD and watch the CBD roll in. You could probably offer less. I think CBD is currently costing about 2 USD per 1M CBD. At one point it cost $20 USD. Its not that buying CBD is dead, its just not worth it at the current prices. But if you want it enough and are willing to pay, I'm sure it will become available.

I don't doubt that I could find a willing seller if I really wanted to, but that's also half the problem. The NUB is great, but at the end of it the new players would lose that growth and realize that money was the only way to compete without investing the amount of time that the original players already had. It seems like the risk of new players simply selling out rather then sticking around was too strong, and there was always a willing buyer. If people wanted to pay money to play, they should have been paying it to the maintainers of thegame.

I do also want to state that I have no problem at all with a pay to win game model. Obviously its a very successful model, and I think with the right changes this game could have been the same.
