Evasion single mage (in General)

So I have been playing around with my single CoC mage (Rave) the last week. I was reading under single mage help page that a single mage needs to train Evasion to last through range rounds. I've used a +50 DB and find its pretty bomb (except I'm encumbered by it due to high NW). Under Evasion it states that if Evasion is higher than your DX, Evasion is only 60% effective. Is the reasoning behind using Evasion on a single mage is to be paired up with DBS even when it's a lower effectiveness? This may also apply to higher mpr characters. I do use a half familiar which I have been enjoying taking the brunt of the damage for me during range :)

The penalty only applies to trained evasion. The evasion provided by DB's does not depend on your trained evasion. So your CoC mage will benefit from the full evasion effect of the DB's (minus the encumbrance penalties). Your Halidon Familiar will also benefit from the full effect if you equip an amulet of junction.

Just remember that the DB's only cancel the "+" effect of your opponent's weapons. It does not provide any defensive DX.

Just reread myself and this sentence needs to change:

"The evasion provided by DB's does not depend on your trained **DX**."

Great, that clears things up for me :)
