OS upgrade 2 (in Changelog)

I did another major in-place upgrade of the server OS today (while CB was running!), and it went surprisingly smoothly. Even the reboot was less than a minute. I know the user base is small these days, but it sure is a testament to the powerfulness of this server platform that we use (for those curious, years ago, the same software ran cnn.com).

Anyway, I just thought I'd leave a record here stating that the upgrade took place. If you see anything newly broken, post here.

So not technically newly broken, but I'm still soft capped at my current power level, meaning I get a range of errors when I train and equip items, as well as try to upgrade items at the blacksmith. I found a work around for training but even though my MPR increases my power will not.

I can provide more details if necessary, was wondering if this is something that can be fixed.

Yeah, Blunder's problem worries me.... Because, what's the point if you can't grow beyond a certain point, in a game like this? Rhetorical question, lol, but you know what I mean by it.

New player Nostrebor says that the email valadation is broken. Not sure if that also works with sending messages but they are having to send messages through transfers of a $1 with a note attached.

10:39 pm 10/14/2018 PST is my most recent train. I click apply changes which sends me to an error page, and then I return to the training page by clicking the Train button on the dashboard, and upon clicking apply changes again I successfully train my minions.

There are no errors at that time that I can see (if I converted timezones right). You got the "Server Error" page? Black Time New Roman font on a white background?

We don't know exactly what causes the error. We think it happeens when a character has over 2 billion net worth or a PR over 22 million.

That is correct NS. However the errors I get from trying to equip items tells me that I have clicked assign changes twice, even though that is clearly not the case. The same goes for trying to upgrade at the blacksmith; telling me I’ve already hit the upgrade button and to go back a page.

could the signed 32bit integer wall be affecting you?.. 2.1 billion seems to be a common number in some games limit bec they accept negative integers. unsigned the 32bit would give you 4.1 billion possibilites .Since negative numbers are part of game play here I'm assuming it cannot be fixed...

It could easily be fixed by using alternative primitives or objects to represent the numbers, but 2^31 sounds like it's probably the limit that you're hitting.

If you need any help with things I'd be happy to do some light work.

Unless I'm mistaken, your NW is only 1 billion..

I logged in as you so I could test. I recreated the error and got a log for it:

ERROR: integer out of range

so... yup :)

Can you check logs to see if my upgrades were rolled back?

I upgraded my SoD this morning (now back to x1) and my BoTH which has also gone back down.

I really hope that you're working towards a fix for this issue that Blunder has been experiencing. I have GIGANTIC plans that require even higher NW than he has.....

I personally dont mind a ceiling for power level, as long as we know EXACTLY what it is...right now I cannot even touch my equipment for fear that I wont be able to reequip them again.

I think setting a limit of any kind would defeat the purpose behind everyone else playing the game. I want to be the best, and I won't settle for a tie! If a limit is set, then I'll leave for the final time....
