Anyone else play chess? (in Off-topic)

I got into it about a year ago cuz GothamChess videos kept showing up in my feed randomly. Played on chess.com for several months before finding a local chess club and getting into OTB play. They met a little far from me, and my truck had some issues at the time, so they helped me find a closer club. Turns out the new club was a much better fit for me. They also hold monthly rated tournaments (one game per week for 4 weeks, then a week skipped). So I got signed up with USCF, and have been playing tournaments with the club on Wednesday nights and meeting up with them and several others on Thursday nights to play casual games and review ideas.

Joined my first tournament halfway through, so I received a Bye for the first 2 rounds. Then I proceeded to lose the other two games against people with ratings of 1775 and 1643. I then joined another 1-day, 3game tournament and lost all 3 games, which absolutely tanked my provisional rating down to like 787... Then in my third tournament, I lost against a 1576, won against a 1220, got a draw against a 1595, and then lost to a 1639. Brought my provisional rating up to 982. 1 win, 1 draw, and 7 losses is a bit of a rough start, but I'm still new to the game, and the average rating of club members is a little above 1500, so even with losses piling up, I can feel the gap narrowing, and my improvement is noticable. 2 of the club members are National Masters that legitimately enjoy playing, talking about, and sharing their knowledge of the game.

My online rapid and blitz ratings are still around 700 and 500, respectively, mostly cuz I haven't been playing online games as much, preferring to study openings and tactics online and playing physically. I'm also a little nervous to get banned for cheating because the last few games I played against people at my rating were laughably easy. So I'm thinking if I played more online, the site would be like "this guy spent 10 months going from 400 rating to 600, then just suddenly shot up to over a thousand in a week."

With the white pieces, my favorite opening is the Scotch Gambit (though I'm learning the Vienna). With the black pieces, I Caro Kann against 1.e4, Go Dutch against 1.d4, and go King's Indian Defense against anything else. I'm a huge fan of Mikhail Tal, and enjoy playing for piece activity and sharp positions.

I've played a bit, nothing competitive, but its a fun game.

I tried to check it out, but it just says the engine is loading and doesn't ever start. I do subscribe to chessly, though. I like GothamChess and ChesswithAkeem's educational content on you tube as well.

For myself the most important part was to have a better view on the variants, especially all-in-one for png files with multiple chapters all in the same view.

Engine part was just a goody, maybe it works on reload or not, but this is not a project i'm goin to maintain, was just a quick 30 minute claude task.
