CB using VB for the PC (in General)

Max January 3 2005 1:23 PM EST

Daz (El Toro) is helping me create a Visual Basic project for CB. First off, thanks mate! While Daz is working on most of the VB I am working on collecting data and will rearrange the design and features as we go.

The idea is to create an interface for CB while housing a collection of CB related links. I just feel spread out with everything on my plate and this will allow me to consolidate a lot of things. Also, I can see all the links on the left hand side now. :)

Features already made:

CB Game client - Basically, opens CB in a window (minus basic browser functions)
CB Chat Client - Opens chat in a child window.

What I am asking you is what you would like to see.

A few thoughts run in my mind but I want to hear what you have to say.

It's not done yet and if you want to check it out go chatmail me with your email address and I'll send over the zip file.

Oh yeah, you know that cool little F1 feature on MS products. We are going to have that for CB.

BTW, you can still use your keyboard back key instead of an icon on IE and it also gets rid of that stupid REFRESH ICON! :)

Ah, screenshot here:

Click me because I open in a new window

max, you're great. I'm definately gonna nominate you for qb when the time comes around. ;)

why?

Telkir January 3 2005 1:51 PM EST

A chat client that auto-scrolls to the bottom whenever new messages are typed would get my vote! (since J2SE 5 plug-in for Firefox doesn't do this, for whatever reason)

Max January 3 2005 1:52 PM EST

Why is it being made? Good question:

1. I really hate the fact that IE does not let me scroll in the left hand frame. Relax, I already sent a trouble ticket to Microsoft explaining that their product prohibits this. I am sure they have a brain trust working on it as we speak.
2. Because, CB rocks.
3. I want to consolidate everything I have collected about CB into one project
4. I want to make CB a true download for a certain website that is giving me a certain type of headache.
5. As I use it more and more I begin to like it more and more. I am coming up with some pretty cool ideas. Just have to make it work. ;)
6. I want my chat box to ALWAYS STAY ON TOP NO MATTER WHAT! I also want to call other products into it. Sorry, got carried away.
7. I want various Fight and Forge Apps to be consolidated.

I have more reasons.

I would like to see a lumpbot type thing on the screen. Something able to give us forge formulas and so on.

Yay #1, woooo

Devenger [/me Forge Stuff :D] January 3 2005 2:13 PM EST

Awesome stuff Max.

Max January 3 2005 2:41 PM EST

Daz is the man.

Fight and money stats, like what privates applet had.
Something that shows the average exp and $$ for people as I fight them.

dnnx January 3 2005 2:55 PM EST

wont it be MUCH easier not to use IE?
I tell all my clients not to use IE unless its neccesary...
I get the part about the chatwindow.
I just use a Tab for the chat whenever I am in chat. you know tabbed browsers...

dnnx January 3 2005 2:58 PM EST

I have not programed since I was in college, but doesn't this make things easier to bot?

Max January 3 2005 3:17 PM EST

No, it doesn't. Everything that is available has always been available. Again, for those that have missed my major point, I want CB to be a download. For specific reasons. Also, I want to control the environment that I play it in as do a lot of users. Further, myself, nor anyone else who has invested time in this game would consider making an illegal bot as Jonathan would surely find it as he has always done in the past. Lastly, there are many intelligent players in this game that could easily identify said bot; Compiled in VB, or not.

An offline Lumpbot would be cool. Must have an auto updater, though.

oo, and make sure when you go to the store it auto-filters out crap and only shows you the good stuff, auto-check marks it, and auto-buys it!!!

sigh

CB Game Client could use my applet.

Max January 3 2005 7:55 PM EST

Ok!

I could probably do this, but I won't.

Let that screenshot go down in history as the (probably one and only) time that I had a fat winning streak =)

This looks great. I would love to see an information menu on forge times, item info, and possibly upgrade costs. Maybe a feature to find out forge costs (networth gain x 70% or whatever it will be in cb2).

Due to technical difficulties by download.com servers some people had major difficulties getting any downloads. It is now fixed, hopefully.

Changes:

1. A new client manager named: Carnage Manager
2. A rotation of referral ID's for those involved based on a simple: () *4 +1

What we are working on:

1. Microsoft Help Index for CB (Offline Help)
2. Including Privates Applet.

What I want:

1. Modifying the chat applet so that I can have a PM box, much like MSN, that stays on top of all my CB applications in the manager. Freeing up my desktop for a bigger main menu and separate "open chat" box.

Why?

Because.

As for the Offline Lumpbot...we are adding the information contained there into the Help for the program itself. As long as the auto updater works by pulling the xml file from my server then it should be fine. (That isn't included in the download yet.) These things need to be written and I am, unfortunately, only 1 of a few people trying to pump this stuff out. A random Help message is possible and easy to do but I still haven't decided if I want to do that just to have people turn it off. I mean, you could easily click on the Help drown down menu and search the index, right?

Lastly, I would really like some help on the FAQ.

Myonax January 5 2005 4:56 PM EST

Should make it auto update to a central server too Max :)

Cb is ever changing.

AdminShade January 5 2005 5:34 PM EST

perhaps also include my graphs on Protection ;)

AdminQBVerifex January 5 2005 5:42 PM EST

I think this is a cool idea, but just for the record, building an advanced program in VB is not a good idea. I almost made a VB app to house my thingy a while back, but then decided against it since not everyone here can use VB apps.

Max January 6 2005 4:14 PM EST

VB files are installed correctly on machines that get windows update. I will include the files and have them installed regardless.

My question is can a non-user install this download and create an account successfully.

Ill give you any referral money. That I do not care about.
