Ultrafast fighting?? Is this a bug? (in General)

[EG]Raucus January 6 2005 1:10 PM EST

How fast can someone fight you??

This is a consecutive block from my fight log.
Please note that I didn't do any fighting or anything and that he beat me.
So, how did he attack me 7 times within a minute??

I thought it was obvious that the reset time is temporarily lower on cb2.

Sedecim January 6 2005 1:54 PM EST

As far as I know the reset time is 20 seconds now. So he could be attacked about 3 times per minute. Not 7 time. But perhaps the reset time had been altered for a while to test something?

Just adding my 2 cents.

Sedecim January 6 2005 1:55 PM EST

Scratch that... It seems faster... Sorry to bug you all...

[EG]Raucus January 6 2005 1:56 PM EST

I'd noticed it was lower (and think that's great), but I don't seem to be able to fight the same person 7 times in a minute and that seems a bit excessive to me.

I could see (and had expected) that the reset time was ~20-30 seconds based on my own attempts, it didn't seem to be <10s which is what 7 fights would require.

AdminShade January 6 2005 1:58 PM EST

I already had seen that it was lower than 15 seconds, probably more like 10 seconds even.

but as it is a temporary thing I won't worry about it (yet)

[EG]Raucus January 6 2005 2:02 PM EST

I just did the following clicking as fast as I could from my work link.
As you can see, it took me ~2 minutes to get the same 7 fights. (these also were uninterrupted by Bartlett doing anything else or any other fights).

Similar timing results hitting velo.
*this* is showing about 20sec reset times.. which is what I'd expected.
So, that gives me 3/minute against someone. I am now intensely curious how 'The First' got 7/minute. (note, these battles were punctuated by many many many 'user is comatose', so I was averaging ~1-2 click/sec on my fasat work link.)

As you can see, you were fighting other people. He was simply farming you. I suggest that the list in the fight logs is not exactly accurate down to the fraction of a second when it generates the list.

Makes sense?

AdminJonathan January 6 2005 4:00 PM EST

That is true; the date is when it was recorded, not when it happened. The two are close but not identical.

[EG]Raucus January 6 2005 4:40 PM EST

Okay, I'll by that.

I'd sort of assumed (perhaps naively, but it's how i'd have written the code :)) that the date field had more precision than was shown and that the ordering was on the full field. and that it was the time of occurance rather than recording. But then, I'm anal in the code I write about keeping time-ordered things straight.. It's a requirement for some of the work I do :)

So apologies for the false alarm and thanks for the responses.
