so just to clarify that final detail. Does this mean that with my current Protection: @ 1,826 (5) the 5= a -5% decrease in dmg taken? so for example a melee blow of 100 would actually be 95?
thx for future feedbacks :d

    IMHO it's 0,21% per point = 1,05% dmg decrease/Minion.

AC takes .21% damage reduction per point. (so 100 AC = 21% less damage)
protection then also takes .21% per point (or so people say) so protection (50) takes 10,5% from the remaining damage you take.

So (If protection reduces damage in the same way as AC) Protection is multiplicative with AC and not addative? (Like CB1)

AC, Protection, Endurance - in this order. Check the FAQ for more detailed information.

Protection is separate from AC now. There would be no reason to have it separate if it worked the same way as it used to - the 0.21% reduction per point. It's a good starting point, but I seriously doubt that it's correct. Why separate it out if it hasn't changed what it's doing?

If I'm not mistake Alumuric, AC blocks first, then protect blocks what's left
ie, if you have AC of 100, it will block ~20% of damage, letting 80% go through. The Protection then kicks in and reduces it by a percentage of the remaining damage.
Meaning, protection's effect has been toned down.
AC 100 + Prot 100 (yeah right) used to mean damage reduction of ~40% (200 x .20
Now, Ac 100 blocks 20, letting 80% go through, now the protection blocks 20% of the 80%, or 16% for a net effect of 36%.
Then again, Jon's documentation is mediocre at best, so I could be way off.

I understand how it works, Todd, I just doubt that it's still 0.21% per point. It would be easy enough to figure out, statistically. Get a whole bunch of EXP saved up, fight 20 people and record damages, then learn a big Prot and fight the same 20 again. Should be able to make a good guess at it then.

I just had base protection (5), but when I trained it for my guys it started saving around 5% of damage from attacks, not 1% or so. Could be wrong - this was eyeballed.

btw where did this .21% derive from?

The 0.21% was derived from CB1.
Every point of AC reduced the damage you took by 0.21% in CB1. People are just assuming the same trend carried over, but I am skeptical that this is the case.
