Level the Tattoo Contest Done Right! True Non-Profit! (in Contests)

OK, the level the tattoo contests that I've seen so far have all struck me as being very exploitive. They have been along the lines of "You might win the entry fees sent in, but I will definitely win a levelled up tattoo!" I have decided to stop complaining about this, and put my money where my mouth is. To help take a step in the right direction, I have decided to do this the right way!

Prize: First prize will be the Tattoo of Jigorokano that is used to conduct this contest. This is not an excuse for me to get paid to have people level my own tattoo. Second prize will consist of the entry fees minus the transfer fees for loaning the Tattoo. Transfer fees will be posted here to ensure that I am not unfairly profiting from the contest. Any additional money earned from random people losing when they attack my storage character will be considered a bonus added to this prize. Third place will receive $10,000 in CB2$. In the unlikely event that the third prize is larger than the second prize, the prizes will be switched so that the larger goes to second place, and the smaller goes to third place.

Contest: A single Tattoo of Jigorokano will be passed around the contest participants. The Tattoo will be passed in a pre-set order, starting with the highest PR character and concluding with the lowest PR character. Each character will have the tattoo for 3 hours.

Entry: Entry is open until 7PM on 2/13/2005 using server time. Send an entry fee of 5,000 CB2$ to the character Serial Peacemaker. This fee is to cover transfer fees and to build the second place prize. Please post the character you intend to use for the contest, and a copy of the transfer line showing you have sent your fee in.

Method: The initial level of the Tattoo of Jigorokano will be 5,070. I will collect the PR to make the list of PRs sometime after 8PM on 2/13/2005, and will start loaning the Tattoo at 11AM on 2/14/2005. All times used in this contest will be server time. I will both chatmail and post here the time that the Tattoo will be sent to the next person. This is because there may be a delay of half an hour to 2 hours before the next loan (to accommodate my real life schedule), and I want no one to be upset about missing their start time. Consider this your only warning. Purchasing BA will be considered legal for this contest, so budget accordingly.

Donations and Duplication: Anyone who wishes to donate towards the second prize of this contest may send donations to Serial Peacemaker. Anyone who wishes to duplicate this format for future contests are free to do so. It would be nice if you gave me credit for building this format, but there is no obligation to do so.

Out of curiosity, what chance does a medium power level character have against a high power level character in a contest of this type?

It depends on how many contestants there are. The order is from highest to lowest. While the highest PR can hit the bigger targets, the tattoo is larger when it gets to the smallest PR. With the wide range of exp rewards, plus the range added by number of minions in your character, there's a fairly decent chance of a medium/small PR beating a high PR. Not to mention the smaller PR gets more BA per refresh than the high PR's do, plus more buyable BA for cheaper.

If nothing else, the smaller PR wins from the opportunity to use a (hopefully) large ToJ for awhile.

Because I did sooooo much to level it up (sorry, wasn't able to log on while it was loaned to me).

Hurm. So far, both -(CBLoans)-MrChuckles and CT did not level the tattoo at all. Lukey and miteke, would you agree to starting the tattoo loaning again to allow better coordination of when everyone is able to logon to level the tattoo? In essence, just start over the loaning process.

Assuming no one objects, please post when you would like the tattoo loaned to you so that you are able to login and level it. I want everyone to have a chance to have fun, and not feel cheated or left out.

I changed my strat the moment I logged on and saw that the loan was already up, no way I can fight at a decent PR with a small ToJ, sorry, whatever you do, I'm out, just consider my entry fee/donation(s) to be donations :)

I'd be out a few grand since I rented some decent equipment for the contest. If I got reinbursement for the rentals I'd be OK with it. But lets go ahead with my scheduled trial. At the very least I think we diligent ones should get an extra attempt at leveling it up for our troubles if we do start over.

Calm down Lukey. All it means is that his initial proposal for a schedule did not work. It's going to take a bit longer to complete the contest. On the other hand, it would be nice to get a few more contestants to join to make it worth Bubo's considerable effort and sacrifice.
