Does this item give a bonus to a char that already has Archery?

yah

I gave a pair to a char without archery expecting him to shoot better and get an extra attack in. He shot about the same and did NOT get the extra shot in the archery phase. Why would this happen?

I gave it to a character with archery hoping to see the archery rating increase from 1.0 to 1.2 or something but nothing happened. What should I be looking for here?

It gives an extra 15% damage bonus with bows if you already have archery learned to the proper level, I believe.

You need full 100% or somewhere near to get extra round. Coz the bonus is only around 15% , which means there's 85% of chance you don't get extra round

BGs no longer give the 15% bonus, it just trains archery. they arnt very special anymore. just rare.

icky. makes Tulkas that much more wanted for tanks.

Does this mean that if you have a CoBF and blegs, you will get fire in all three ranged rounds?

AdminJonathan February 17 2005 9:49 AM EST

how the hell do you turn "grants archery" into something to do with CBF?

Bolfen February 17 2005 10:01 AM EST

BGs are still "special." Check out the thread where I compared damage done by BG and TG's--BG does about 10% more damage per attack during ranged phases and gets you more attacks.

TG might help long term if you've got a melee tank, but BG is a ranged killer.

I should have asked "If the CoBF prevents the use of trained skills (archery), does it also negate the skill if it is granted by the gloves?" I'll rent a pair and figure it out.

As I understand it, Beleg's offer a 10% bonus to archery. IF you have no archery trained, you still get the 10% (0.10 equiv in the display).

Unless I am mistaken, archery does 2 things.
1. Adds a chance of hitting during the second round of ranged.
2. Increases damage during ranged.

Both of these go away during melee rounds, so the BG's do nothing during melee, but are very powerful (more powerful than the bonus strength from the tulkas) in ranged.

This is how I understand BG's

/me resists all urges to comment on the documentation in the item meta-stats section.

Todd,

I've wondered about those numbers for a while. Is there a point where tulkas or helm's, with their strength bonus, would lead to a larger increase in damage than the bonus from Beleg's ? (all other things being equal...)

I think someone posted a few experimental results showing that Beleg's are better. But, if the strength/damage curve is non-linear, then in theory there may be a point where additional strength will give more damage than the Beleg. (Begs asking, is the strength/damage ratio or curve linear ?)
