Bored? Scientific study participants needed. Count your bot checks (in General)

I remember in CB1 (at one time, anyways), the frequency of bot checks was 1 in 30 fights, meaning that the odds of a bot check appearing on each fight was 1 in 30. That may have been changed.

But, I am noticing that they appear much more frequent here. So, being curious, I decided to ask the community for help.

It's pretty simple.

Count your fights (easy), and count your bot checks during those fights. Then post. Please try to make it at least 50 fights, more if possible. Do it a few times, and then post. I'll summarize at the end.

My data so far:
56 fights: 5 challenges
107 fights: 7 challenges

hey Todd! Just burned 100 ba for science. 4 bot checks. will have more data when ba refreshes.

if i would have saw this sooner i would have counted, but i think it's random though. there's been a couple of times where i swear i had more than ten in a set of ba refreshes. i even had a couple within 10 fights.

143 fights just brought me only 4 botchecks.

just a side note it seems more likely to give me a bot check if I try to fight a comatose and I'm not so sure on this one but if I'm going to lose. No hard data on this tho, I'm going back to bed now :)

7 in 40 fights - however that involved a lot more clicking than fighting, while someone was comatose - may have actually been around 60-70 clicks. So, almost 1 in 10 clicks leading to a botcheck.

100 fights / only 1 comatose click / 3 botchecks

Data so far points to the following:

3 bots from 50 BA spent.

I had 8 comatose non-events during this, so technically 3 bots from 58.

34 BA, ~8 comatose, 3 bot checks.

(bad habit of just running down list, hitting comatose in case they heal up.. hehe)

didn't count, saw post too late,
but soemtimes I get bot checks every 2-5 fights...

thanks dnnx, but that's exactly what I am trying to avoid. I'm sure some people have gone 30-40 without a check too, but that is not the norm. I'll keep doing this as long as people post here (well, within reason). So, when you get some decent amount of Ba, count, and post.

Curious, Todd, what stats are you using for analysis ? Just going to take an average over all (total fights/bot checks == avg fights per check), and look to narrow std ? Or treat each one as an individual sample for fights/bot check, and graph those, etc ..

(Yeah, my stats knowledge is rather old, so I can't remember if you'd get the same answer doing it en total, or individually, sue me ;)

I think it has to do with how quickly you use your BA. When I fight slowly I rarely if ever get bot checks, however, when I fight quicly scrolling through my favorite list extremely fast, I get tons of bot checks. Don't know if that helps or not, but that is my two cents.

Larger sample set:

109 BA

6 bot checks

16 unconscious attacks.

I am simply taking all of the fights reported and all of the challenges reported, each as a sum. Then I divide one into the other :)

98 fights. 3 bot checks.

This feels abnormally low to me, but I've learned not to trust my instincts on such numerical matters. I trust the numbers.

this morning:

160 fights 6 bot checks

another 160 with 5

another 160 with 6

just now some 80 ba and 3 bot checks.

160 fights: 7
160 fights: 2

Total number of fights/attempts reported: 1,867
Total number of challenges reported: 81

Average rate: 1 challenge for every 23 fights.

And wow.. only 2 bot checks in 160.. how rare is that?

Cant speak for certain but it appears Jon wrote into the bot check code that the more often you fight a person the more often the chance of a bot check (as if you were a robot).

Therefore, you will often get a bot check when repeatedly trying to fight the same comatosed person.

I may be completely wrong but if this is the case then your data will reveal people's fight styles (small fight list of 10 or so people) rather than the frequency of bot checks on CB2...

Interesting theory Myth.

I suspect though, that Jon kept it simple and there is a simple x% of a challenge each and every fight attempt.

169 actual fights, 16 comatose clicks, 5 bot checks.

This is the first time that I can recall getting less than 10 per 160, + comatose up to 20, since cb2 went live, though. I charted my fights, comatose clicks, and bot checks for a few days back in Feb. and it came out to a bot check per 15 to 16 attempted fights for me.

No botchecks for unconscious fights.

One trend I've observed was a higher chance of botcheck after a loss (or at least trying to fight quickly after a loss).

In that same group of 160:
1 loss
1 botcheck after loss

3 bots from 108 fights including comatose.

160 BA

12 botchecks of which 2 were comatose botchecks

160 fights, 7 bot checks
(fights: 26, 61, 89, 97, 131, 140, 148)

140 fights - 6 bot checks
100 fights - 4 bot checks

147 fights / 10 botchecks (plus one extra because I failed one ;)

160 fights 7 bot checks

115 fights 3 bot checks - wish it was always more like that

Excellent. Thanks eveyone for your data. We now have data from 3,748 fight requests.

Final tally: 1 bot check per 22.8 fights.

I think Jon is messing with us :). Yesterday, I can see how your result is valid, I received a similar bot/fight ratio, which I felt was weird. Today, in 110 fights I received 8 bot checks, 3 were bunched in a 15 fight period and 4 were bunched in a 20 fight period, the 8th one was 20 some fights away from the previous one.
Your "final" result gets posted and we go back to "normal":)

I think Todd is forgetting that as your BA rate goes down, your bot check rate goes up. This has never been a secret...

Wow, I never knew that (or, I forgot I knew it). So much for this exercise.

You could still get some statistics, but people will also need to report their BA-rate. Something like...
