Active users in the past 7 days:

CB2: 811
CB1: 320 (ish)

What was CB1 at its peak?

I remember seeing 1,045, but I seem to remember an average of about 900.

How sad! CB1 must really be dying. I wonder why everyone doesn't just quit.

Fishead March 22 2005 8:44 PM EST

CB1 doesn't have to die. Spend a few minutes burning 100 ba a couple of times of a day. It doesn't have to take up too much time.

CB1 is still extremely fun!

[From CB1]Tequito March 22 2005 8:58 PM EST

I enjoy cb1 a lot more than cb2. I don't see why anybody would think that we should all just quit. chat is a lot more fun, and all of the idiots (well, a good portion of them) stay on cb2, so the cb1 ops go headache free for the most part. ;)

Also, CB1 got really interesting when CB2 came. Suddenly we had much more inter-game economics going on (the neopoints/KoL meat/etc didn't really count). The newbie population dropped and lots of vets started disappearing and selling stuff. The game changed drastically in lots of ways and it's been fun trying to figure out how best to navigate the rough seas.

I don't plan on leaving CB1 :)

yeah.. i still play cb1. and i think actually more and more people are starting to return... shoot if it wasn't for cb1 i wouldn't be in cb2. i make quite a bit of money fighting in cb1, and i just exchange it for cb2. :)

I don't play either game much anymore. I love strategy games like this one, but CB1and CB2 are pretty much the same to me, and nothing really changes. Both games have just gotten old to me. Which has forced me to find a new strategy game to play. Not to mention the rulers or head captains of the game are really not that friendly or helpful to new players so with that in mind why would anyone want to hang around and keep playing.

AdminShade March 23 2005 8:43 AM EST

still play both as much as i can.

I quite disagree. CB2 has suffered some pretty radical changes recently, and well, Jon has really done everything he can to keep the game changing while still keeping it carnage blender, while yes, it's true that CB1 doesn't change, well, that's the idea.

and for vets not being helpful, that is far from true, especially with CB1. You just may be looking for help in the wrong places, but as far as I have seen there is a whole army of people here willing to help, sometimes too many really. Maybe the new players you are refering to were asking for help in carnage, well, that's why carnage is there, so that the people who want to play the game don't need to sort through new player's questions to chat. If you are trying to bash the ops, well, we may not be the most courteous at times, but you wouldn't want to be either when everybody was trashing you 24/7 for your volunteer work.

Actually, my point was that CB1 does change. Although the kinds of changes we used to see have stopped, the game has changed a lot this year and is still changing. Because of the severe drop off in new players along with the SaveCB effort, the rental market is completely different. Long time veterans have been leaving on a regular basis, causing a flood of extremely valuable items and a more active character market. The change in BA made fighting and forging strategies change too.

I could go on, but my basic point is that I've been having a great time trying to stay on top of all this and tailor my strategies accordingly. I'd wager that some of you CB2-only people would have a good time making a new character on CB1 or reviving your old one!

[From CB1]Tequito March 23 2005 2:37 PM EST

you have a good point there. ;)

abba March 23 2005 3:00 PM EST

Well MrTequito,

I invited 32 clan members from another game I play to come and try out CB2. (just a note all my clan members are over the age 25 and we all are PG people) 19 of them told me the new players chat room people were very rude to them, and/or ignored them, and/or offered no help. The other 10 or so friends that tried CB said they didn't like the concept or the type of game, or they would have to spend too much usd or click a life time to get any good gear.

This was some of the things I was told. I have believe my clannies form the other game we play because we have all known each other for over 2 years.

Again, this was what my friends told me. And yes I was ignored many times in chat as well as I was answered in chat too. And many times when asking a question I was treated like I was complaining and I wasn't. With all of that being said... the power of typing chat... can be taken the wrong way.

Sorry, to have rubbed a nerve Mr.Tequito.

abba March 23 2005 3:01 PM EST

But anyway... when I first started playing here. I remember seeing 1245 new players in a week. I think

AdminJonathan March 23 2005 3:57 PM EST

CB does get in the neighborhood of 1k new players per week. With that kind of number involved, we must and do expect a certain level of responsibility from new players; those who consistently ask questions that are answered by Help and FAQ aren't really the kind we want.

I don't know if this describes your "clannies" or not, but it unfortunately does a lot of younger players.

I still play both as CB1 is able to generate myself money for CB2
