What joke will Jonathan pull us today? (in Off-topic)

April fools day so lets all be foolish enough to fall for Jonathans well known jokes ;)

I wasn't here for April fools last year but I already had Reyna panicking because I told her that the armor store being so full was an April fools joke on campers.

Last year he 'borked' chat. Every line or so got turned into a Swedish cook-type of speaking. Annoying at first, when people don't understand you, but very funny at the end of the day. All those people from other timezones who haven't got a clue what's going on...

In 2003, he renamed weapons. I'm not sure about the exact names. It might still be in a CB1-post though. The big Lochaber Axe was turned into a Stick, etc. Fun stuff!

But what he did this year ... I haven't seen anything odd today. Yet. On CB2 that is; Here, someone was kind enough to turn my alarm clock off this morning, knowing that I had the day off and wanted to get up early...

Actually, the Loch (which for those who didn't play was the uber-weapon of CB1) was renamed A Wet Wookie, IIRC. :-)

There does seem to be an unusual number of rares spawning today. I mean, even I caught something, and I wasn't camping! Please don't rollback!

Maybe he didn't do anything this year? I haven't noticed any strangeness at all. I even joined chat and there's nothing going on in there either.

3 Melee rares went through CB1 in less than an hour. That is obsurd to me. So maybe something is going down ;)

I doubt Jon has changed the item spawn rate as a joke. That would be too subtle. And then doing a roll back? That would be cruel... not funny.

Maybe nothing to CB2... so that we are all apprehensive all day...

If I'm not mistaken, all of the April Fool's jokes in the past were other people's work (bork chat, and renamed items form 2 years ago). Jon is over worked, and has no one to fufill this role.

Besides, we all know CB2 itself is the ultimate everlasting April fool's joke. ;)

We will all be able to go back to Dec 1, 2004 (pre CB2 announcement) and pick up where we all left off.

I dunno about CB1, but the store here in CB2 seems to be doing things normally (just look through rares for last 24 hours). 3 rares in an hour isn't that wacky, it's just statistics after all....

Maybe this is the joke, that there is no joke, when everyone is expecting a joke, but he won't give us a joke. What a joker.

Randy (already mostly-retired even then) did the item names for 2003 and Frod wrote the 2004 chefelizer.

Well if you'd be willing to open the codebase up a little, Jon, I think there's more than a couple of us who'd be happy to help out for next April 1.

Let me know what you have in mind in 10 months. :)

I'll put an Exploratory Committee together. We'll see if we can come up with some Requirements. Draw up a Statement of Work. Do a Risk Assessment. Try to formalize some sort of Budget. Maybe see about getting a Small Business Loan.

I'm thinking of something along the lines of:

Liberal use of the <blink> tag

PR swapping

Wacky item effect time

Remapping the user's keyboard

Photoshopping everyone's user portrait to something else

Re-introducing Inexhaustible Arrows :p (No, I'm never going to shut up about them.)

Changing from a Tolkien theme to a Dinosaur theme. (i.e. change realms to Cretaceous, Jurassic, Triassic, Permian; BoNE to T-Rex Fossil; Dinosaur name generator for everyone's chars and minions.)

We'll need to get a Vision and Values Statement together; a motto; someone will need to come up with a flag; a theme song. An alignment chart would be good, so we know where everyone stands. It would be helpful if everyone studied up on Deming's system of 'Total Quality Management'.

Also, what's our color scheme?
