Is Prot worth it for a solo ToE mage? (in General)

Just wondering if the Protection XP is worth it. If the opponent has DM, it's likely gone anyway. Only helps with non DM teams for the tank / archer or mage attacks. Given the XP required, I thought it would be better spent on some HP to absorb the leftover non ToE damage. Now my ToE mage is still a baby, so it may change later on, but my ToE grows faster than the value of Protection I see.

Thoughts?

Yes. It's worth it. Even at base.

As far as DM is concerned, if they use that, more likely than not, they won't be using AMF versus you. Or at the very least, it'll be reduced by thier DM...

But go get some Protection! ;)

Protection is worth it as a low level side-enchant. Just put it at low levels, and once you get bigger, you can raise it a little more. Even getting a 6-10 affect from protection can add quite a bit of survivability to your ToE mage.

also at higher PR you can afford to make 50 AC effect of evasion in no time.

No, no, no, no.

I know this because I untrained my AMF to invest in protection and all the people in my fight list suddenly started whomping on me. It's an innefficient use of exp.

A case could me made for base protection, but as a serious investment, you've got to be kidding me.

Of course untraining AMF to train protection would be foolish, heh. But at the 100k PR range, getting 3000 in protection is simple, and produces the 6 effect. By 150k PR, getting it to an 8 or 9 would be fairly simple.

Depending on protection as part of a single mage strategy is not wise, but having it there, even at a low level, is helpful against non-DM users.

OK - I wasn't seeing much of an uptick, but it helped a bit. I've actually got a CoC archer with AMF.
