item transfer bug fixed (in Changelog)

AdminJonathan April 8 2005 9:37 AM EDT

A bug in the transfer code allowed players to transfer more than the limit to a Character using the quicklist on the homepage. This has been fixed.

Items over the limit (10 each unequipped weapons & armor) will be deleted in a week.

Relic April 8 2005 10:37 AM EDT

Are you referencing the 10 weapon & armor limit on each minion? If so, then you are also saying that any items that put a minion over 10 will be deleted? Might I ask what the reasoning is for doing this? Server space? Why do you care that I have a minion with a bunch of items on it that are unequipped? Is it the fact that they aren't being used actively in the game? Just clearing up my ignorance in this matter, thanks.

It stops people from hoarding everything away.

Relic April 8 2005 10:45 AM EDT

Shouldn't that be the perogative of the (possibly paying/supporter) user?

AdminJonathan April 8 2005 10:49 AM EDT

no, it shouldn't.

Special J April 8 2005 10:50 AM EDT

Right, if this was a single player game it might lean that way Glory. But when one person can hoard dozens of items they do not intend to use, but simply sit on, then it hurts the rest of the players.

Items do not have an unlimited supply, if they did then it would not be an issue.

AngryZac April 8 2005 11:19 AM EDT

I think instead of deletion items that are over the limit in a week should just go strait to the store. Oh, and let's not wait that whole week thing, why not do it now?

Heh, just made $15K for selling all the garbage off my armory. Good change!

Descent April 8 2005 1:21 PM EDT

Heh, saw this one coming a mile away =P

Note that this assumes supportership, which, from the amount of TJKs in the game, is approximately as rare as dirt.

ITEM LIMIT:

1 main character (10 unequipped weapons/armor each) +
4 mule characters (10 unequipped w/a each)
=50 unequipped weapons and 50 unequipped pieces of armor per user
plus
if you hire 4 minions each on each of your mule teams (total cost < CB$ 1328 if you don't train) you get:
16 more weapon slots
and 80 more armor slots (note that equipping a tattoo takes up 2 slots, and item distribution may mean that some slots are unusable--but at least one slot per character will be usable, even if all your armor is of the same type [e.g. 80 pairs of leather boots]).

Anyway, locking a user's ability to store weapons and armor you are not using on your main character at 66 weapons and 66 to 130 pieces of armor does not seem to me like undue hardship.

well the ruins my storage character, time to sell. So-So change :P

Cylo April 8 2005 10:46 PM EDT

it wasn't a change.. it has always been 10 of both per character. If you read the change. Subject: item transfer bug fixed That means that if you bought stuff with your main char and quick sent it to one of your farms or mules it would allow it to hold more than 10. If you bought the item with your mule or farm and it had 10 already it wouldn't have allowed it. So this isn't a change really everyone, just a fix so people couldn't get around the rule of only 10 armor and 10 weapons per character.

DizzyGuy April 9 2005 2:21 AM EDT

wait... i have like 18 armor on a char that i use... *tygonomy*... yeah, so this is a 4 minion team... does that mean that I have to get rid of armor even though I'm using it?

(CB1)logan666 [Jago] April 9 2005 2:36 AM EDT

Dizzyguy, no. This is for items not equipped so you don't need to worry about it unless you have more that 10 items unequipped for armor or weapons.

DizzyGuy April 9 2005 2:37 AM EDT

awesome XD thx

My concern is that with the 10 item limit, especially with only 5 characters allowed vs 10, is that it limits the number of items a person can put in rentals for others to use, essentially down to 50 armor/weapons. You might think that it's not likely for someone to have 50 items in rentals but I'm already up to 20.

/panicking to make sure that the 10 out of 20 that i have in rentals don't get deleted.

Special J April 9 2005 11:09 AM EDT

But this is a bug thats being fixed not a new surprise being smacked down on us.

Smashure April 10 2005 9:16 AM EDT

after the initial deletion will there be any followup deletions? If so what happens If I happen to unequip more than 10 items of my char for a while and then lose them when I return.

AdminShade April 10 2005 9:19 AM EDT

yes smashure. but you probably wont be able to have that many items on you :)

Smashure April 10 2005 5:17 PM EDT

I have 8 defensive items on my enchanters alone... Can I never unequip them?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] April 10 2005 5:44 PM EDT

i think you can unequip with no problem after the bug is fixed.(If it isnt already) You just cant add anymore from outside transfers or store buying.

AdminShade April 10 2005 5:52 PM EDT

you can unequip them but not leave them unequipped

AdminJonathan May 1 2005 11:28 PM EDT

deleted.
