How do ToE's work again? (in General)

AdminShade April 20 2005 5:03 PM EDT

sorry but i simply couldn't find the post but:

i am ~100K mpr

with level 90K ToE:

Round 1: Susan's Fireball hit Ungoliant, 'Gloomweaver' [31846], Melkor, 'Arises in Might' [16697]
Round 2: Susan's Fireball hit Melkor, 'Arises in Might' [135315]

with the level 180K ToE"

Round 1: Susan's Fireball hit Ungoliant, 'Gloomweaver' [52210], Melkor, 'Arises in Might' [9990]
Round 2: Susan's Fireball hit Melkor, 'Arises in Might' [52371]

so in round 1 i block around the same damage, being 80% (75% + from armor)

But in round 2 with the level 180K i block much more damage than with the level 90K tattoo...

is it only linked by damage taken? or is there also a minion PR part in it (the former 70% rule)

I think that its linked to damage taken only

correction: i got less damage with the higher ToE also in the first round...

16K / 32K = ~50% blocking
10K / 50K = ~80% blocking

pretty small test sample...

AdminShade April 20 2005 5:08 PM EDT

true, indeed pretty small but the 1% unequipping penalty can kick in when changing tattoos :(

i did test it for quite some hours and didnt see any real damage taken increase with my normal fighting list. but i seem to then already block max damage but what would the turn point be.

in other words: howmuch damage would i need to receive before modifications to have a lvl (lets say) 100K ToE block 75% of the damage.

I think what happened is in the fight with the 90K ToE the second round (not suffering as much of a ranged penatly) did just enough more damage to significantly reduce/neate your ToE. (Plus it was concentrated on 1 minion)

MY gut reaction is that it works in the same fashion as AMF versus DD. Equal ToE versus equal damage gets 40/50% reduction, maybe double ToE to damage hit's 75% cap...

It would be useful to see how much damage Susan's fireball does to Melkor in round two without your ToE, but who would take the unequipping penalty to test this now....
