E-Clan Revenue Records (in General)

Bubo [DTC of Bubo] April 26 2005 4:31 PM EDT

I've noticed a couple of odd things with Economic Clan Revenue records. I just wanted to confirm the phenomenon, and hopefully find out if the behavior is intentional.

First of all, I recently retired my old E-clan character because I wanted a char with a shorter name. When I did this, my revenue records suddenly disappeared. From what I observed, it appears that these revenue records are tied to the character instead of the player.

Second, I've noticed a new E-clan was started on Apr 23rd. They are listed as already having over $100,000,000 worth of revenue. After talking with Melris about this, he told me that his revenue was deducted from his old E-clan and transferred to the new E-clan when he switched clans.

Can anyone confirm that this is actually happening? Also, is this how the revenue record is suppose to operate? It just seems odd to me that the work I did in one clan can be magically transferred to a new clan when I switch.

it operates based on the amount a character has made over the various time periods regardless of clan (so e-clan functions differently from regular clans)

That just seems odd to me, hence the reason why I also asked if it could be confirmed whether this was intentional or not. I'm not trying to hurt CB Services, it's just that this behavior strikes me as promoting solo career building as opposed to clan career building. If it's intentional, I can see a few months from now E-clans advertising for members who already have a certain amount of revenue recorded, which would make long term E-clan ranking depend on who you can recruit as opposed to working together as a team.

Ummmm... I don't have anything more to say.
Cute kid.

As slurpz mentioned, it appears that each characters revenue history follows them into the eclan (and from one to the other) so the second one of my characters joined CB Services Inc., all of its revenue for the past week/month/year was credited to the clan.

This doesn't really seem fair, since your old clan helped you generate the revenue that your new clan is now credited with, , but since there are no eclan bonuses, it doesn't really have any consequences except bragging rights.

when I removed Ema from the clan (CB Services) I lost all the revenue I had obtained over time, so I can as well confirm this.

Hopefully, Jon will have time to confirm if this is intentional or not. It just seems to really devalue the E-clan, honestly. If you start to have personal problems with people in your E-clan, there's no real incentive to work it out (aside from friendship) since you take all that you've contributed to the clan with you when you switch clans. Yeah, it's not exactly unfair since there is no rank based rewards for e-clans, but because of the lack of rank based rewards the bragging rights grow in value. (No, I'm not asking for rank based rewards. :)

Bubo...if you're worrying about this...do you know that E-clan revenue can be faked also?

Bubo [DTC of Bubo] April 26 2005 6:18 PM EDT

Yup, quite easily too. It's not really the revenue I'm concerned about, actually. It's the fact that there is no incentive past personal friendships to remain in a clan. There really is no investment into a clan, since you take it all with you when you switch to a new clan.

I don't know, this capability just doesn't feel right to me. It focuses the stats more on the individual than the group, making the attitude of "What can this clan do for my bottom line?" prevail over "How can I help this clan reach the top?"

...you're thinking into this too deeply

Karmic Mishap [Soup Ream] May 4 2005 1:28 PM EDT

Why is he thinking too deeply? It sounds like he's genuinely concerned about game mechanics giving incentives for community stability to me.

Here's an incentive that shouldn't break things: the top # econ clans get a % discount on posting auctions/rentals. Not much, but just enough =)
Of course, who am I to talk, I've never been in an economic clan.
