Confounding Flash game (in Off-topic)

The Crimson Room.

There was some blurb with the email I received, but it got deleted...

Essentially, you're trapped in a room and there are 13/14 items you need to find to escape.

And I love the literal translations!

So far, we've (me and the office manager) have found eleven... >_

Xiaz on Hiatus May 4 2005 8:54 AM EDT

You do realise Crimson Room 2 has already come out also? :)
It's a great (and challenging) game, probably one of the first "escape from the room" type games.

QBRanger May 4 2005 8:58 AM EDT

Very interesting, so far I have found 8 of the items. I have no idea how you found out there are 13/14 items to find.

QBRanger May 4 2005 9:01 AM EDT

Got the link to Crimson Room 2?

Im up to 9 items in the first one.

QBRanger May 4 2005 9:03 AM EDT

Up to 10 items. Just found the battery, not what to do with it???

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 4 2005 9:16 AM EDT

:) we figured out what to do with the ring and metal bar, but still have no idea what to do with one of the keys and the tape!

:/

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 4 2005 9:16 AM EDT

Or the battery!

QBRanger May 4 2005 9:17 AM EDT

I did use the ring correctly, but have not found a metal bar. I have an empty CD case and a cassette I have not yet listened to.

Also the link on the paper is a dead link to a web site.

ywnwraith May 4 2005 9:22 AM EDT

I've found 12 items, and used everything except for the CD case and one key...and still can't get out of the room =(

QBRanger May 4 2005 9:25 AM EDT

You mean my powers of observation cannot find 2 more items?

Please no spoilers in the thread please.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] May 4 2005 9:26 AM EDT

i got it to play a movie from the box and it projected on the wall. after of course i put the three things on top, for it to open. haven't opened the door yet tho.

QBRanger May 4 2005 9:40 AM EDT

Figured it out, Very crafty, the movie is the trick.

Also getting the other ring is quite nasty in the way you have to do it.

QBRanger May 4 2005 9:44 AM EDT

1994, the web site is not working.

Relic May 4 2005 10:02 AM EDT

I figured out the whole room a few days ago. If you need any hints, let me know. One part in particular is very difficult.

Xiaz on Hiatus May 4 2005 10:07 AM EDT

Crimson Room II

Relic May 4 2005 12:38 PM EDT

I also finished Crimson Room II, however, I must admit that it was much more difficult and not as logical as the first room.

Sukotto [lookingglas] May 4 2005 1:23 PM EDT

The series so far

  1. Crimson Room
  2. Viridian Room
  3. Blue Chamber
I found the first two very hard (still working on the Blue room).

Remember that precision and timing count. Some things only appear if you click a particular pixel. Other things require you click things in a certain order (or even just click the same thing multiple times).

Good luck!

Relic May 4 2005 1:39 PM EDT

I just did the blue room this morning. It is pretty easy. Let me know if you need any hints.

QBRanger May 4 2005 2:03 PM EDT

How could u guys do the crimons room if the link on the paper did not work?

Relic May 4 2005 2:09 PM EDT

I did the crimson room a while ago and the link did work. The updated link has a different url and a different safe combination. But, the process for figuring out the safe combination is the same.

LumpBot May 4 2005 2:23 PM EDT

The second one is in japanese and it's really hard to decipher it when I can't read the little notes, does anyone have an enlgish version?

Sukotto [lookingglas] May 4 2005 2:43 PM EDT

My links all go the the English (Engrish) versions... So you can read the book in "English" :-)

You don't need to understand the Kanjii on the little slips of paper to solve the puzzle though. You just have to know where each one goes based on other clues.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 4 2005 6:32 PM EDT

The first link in this thread for the viridian room links to the chinese version. If you click on "home" you can then choose the English version.

Xiaz on Hiatus May 4 2005 6:37 PM EDT

In the CR2, what the 'symbols' actually mean doesn't matter. All you need to do is remeber the what each symbol looks like (bit challenging at first). But use all the tools you have available :)

Sukotto [lookingglas] May 4 2005 9:35 PM EDT

I took a screenshot of the clue(s) It was getting too frustrating trying to remember the whole list in order.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] May 4 2005 10:58 PM EDT

CR2, refresh the game after it loads. It turned into English after I refreshed...lol.

QBRanger May 4 2005 10:59 PM EDT

There are also Walkthroughts on the web. If you do a google search theyll pop up.

Xiaz on Hiatus May 4 2005 11:02 PM EDT

I encourage you not to use the walkthroughs.

When this (these) games first came out people started posting spoilers all over the place. The author of the game ask for the spoilers to be taken down. The reason was after you finish the game you are given a "ranking" so to speak. Like "You are the (rank) person to escape this room." Plus it just spoils the game :P
