Strategy Check: ToA vs ToE (in General)

I would like some opinions. My character Don Kixothe is a 4T team--not too many of those around, and I know it's difficult and expensive, but I'm having fun with it. Anyway, with the change made to the ToE, particularly affecting all minions, I wonder what some of you think about switching to a ToE on Don Kixothe.

Currently, the character is not doing too bad, with a score significantly higher than PR, and with a high ranking MPB. He survives by doing damage and using BL/VA to near full advantage. As you can imagine weakness lies in very strong DD based teams. If I switched to a ToE damage would decrease but the first 3 minions would survive longer.

So, my question is: What would Don Kixothe be like wearing a ToE instead of a ToA?
Thanks.

Well with the changes to the TOE, that is effecting all minions to a degree, it should work very well on a 4 tank team.

However, you will have a problem hitting other tanks especially TOA tanks since none of your characters will have any dex to speak of. So youll do very well vs mage/enchanter teams but will have to rely on pth or your cobf to kill tanks/toj's.

If you think your cobf is up to the job and your pth is high enough, then a TOE is great for you. Personally I debated it for my WET team but I love the high dex and not getting hit by other tanks, esp with my DB's on.

Barron, I hate to say this, but your strategy is completely insane unless you have 4 trillion CB/USD at your disposal. This kind of strategy talk will probably help nobody but you. ;P

Well, it's not a totally whack strategy. Ranger has a 3T team and is doing very well. One of the ideas I have is to wait until the Haste and GS enchantments get big, and if the character stalls, then consider changing to a ToE.

Would going to a DD Tattoo be totally ridiculous? My ToA is 130k now. Adding a ToJ as a 5th tank is also something I've been kicking around.

What about replacing the heavy xbow and the exbow for axbows?

Does the protection work on your wall minion? The Mage Shield "negates trained spells" right? Does spell just mean DD? I assumed it meant enchantments too but never bothered testing.

As for switching to the ToE, why not find someone willing to lend you one for a few days and see how it works?

Vagabond, thanks for the suggestions:
1. The Axbow on all minions may be a good idea!

2. Base Protection (4) works even with a CBF/MgS

3. Borrowing a big tatto is rough, because the lender would lose experience in his tattoo, and so would the borrower.

Well you should have said something last week! I would have lent you mine (only 115k) while I was on vacation this weekend. 3 days should be plenty of time to make up the 1% lost xp.

Interesting about the Protection, I'll have to check that out.

Vagabond May 9 2005 6:42 PM EDT

*Technically 2% since you'd have to unequip it again

By the way, if you haven't found one yet, I can lend you mine this weekend (I'll play my tank Saturday).

Thanks Vagabond--i'll let you know.

The axbow idea leads to a question. If a minion fires an axbow it will target the highest dex opponent minion. Therefore, my smaller tanks wielding an axbow will target the opponents biggest tank usually. Wouldn't my minion miss all the time, or is that more based on the PTH of the axbow +/- DB effect?

Vagabond May 9 2005 7:07 PM EDT

Move your axbow to one of the smaller guys and find out :P

i'd think you are right though, the first couple would need to have decent sized Pth to be really effective against the big single tanks.
