The true power of single archer ELB is back. (in General)

TrueDevil [AAA] May 9 2005 5:06 PM EDT

I just had to make this topic, because of so many topics that was against SMTOE, saying that their single tank is totally useless against SMTOE. Currently, I'm being farmed badly by Alucard, which I used to be able to beat. I can see him winning against all the SMTOE in his PR range, and with bigger ELB, he can definitely beat Black Belt Jones. How did he do it ? rented a 14 mil ELB, and there goes the ultimate strategy from CB 1.

I can only imagine what happened when the biggest ELB in CB2 reaching this stage " A Fire Hose [x27] (+257) worth $352,209,201. "

Any way for single mage to stop this ? nope. Any way at all for team of mages to stop this ? hmm yea, with 2-5x more PR than the single tank (or the ultimate Spid strategy, EEET) probably.

Don't think your single tank strat is useless, just get a HUGE ELB (and huge ToA can be helpful too), and you'll beat all of those annoying mages. :)

Or 3 20 HP Enchanters.

TrueDevil [AAA] May 9 2005 5:18 PM EDT

yea, I actually just browsing through CB 1 again, I find it interesting that even the only mages on top there, The Last (AvoidCXT's chara) changed his strat to EEMT. I guess there's no chance at all for mage to keep up at the top.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 9 2005 5:36 PM EDT

How magic damage was determined was changed for CB2.

Mages will win out when it takes you X amount to upgrade your ELB (where X is a figure you can't afford, growing into a figure you can't possibly afford...) and their spells still increase in damage linearly with xp expenditure.

QBRanger May 9 2005 5:39 PM EDT

But is not weapons damage helped by NW?

Majestik Moose May 9 2005 5:43 PM EDT

Shouldn't a tank at the same PR be better then a mage ?
(Considering that at the same PR, the mage probably has all his money left, while the tank has used his on ammo and upgrades)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 9 2005 5:44 PM EDT

;) If you're a mage, 3 20 HP 'chanters won't help you face an ELB if your opponents uses seekers! ;)

Watch out!

Duke May 10 2005 12:15 AM EDT

Just me be kidding you are complaning that a someone with a 380M million ELB should not be that strong.

HELLO

380.000.000$$$$$ anyone close to that that.

Relic May 10 2005 12:17 AM EDT

380 million NW ELB? That is roughly 7900 USD value. Who in their right or wrong mind would upgrade an ELB to that NW???

/me starts to hand out the crazy pills

Xiaz on Hiatus May 10 2005 12:23 AM EDT

Please, a SMTOE is so much cheaper to start and you get the results only after a few weeks of fighting. Not everyone can just 'get' a ELBow and pump a few million into it.

Don't think your single tank strat is useless, just get a HUGE ELB (and huge ToA can be helpful too), and you'll beat all of those annoying mages. :)

If it was JUST that easy to get a elbow. A SMTOE with say 4Mil NW, vs a T with 20Mil+ NW. Go figure.

Becoming May 10 2005 12:24 AM EDT

This person would.

With a Most Powerful Blow: 19,284,267 and Net Worth: $859,509,673,
I think he might just have a chance of owning lol...

As an aside, UC was modified some time ago to give double evasion during ranged combat. Someone in the changelog thread mentioned their hope that UC would become the natural predator of the archer.

Fought Alucard a few times. Not close yet; I still take 100k damage in ranged. I'm trying, though, and maybe if I can get my DX as high as his I'll have a chance.

deifeln May 10 2005 12:46 AM EDT

Mags- Try fighting Leoly...I'm smaller than Alucard

Mags May 10 2005 1:19 AM EDT

Thanks for the suggestion, Delfein. I win, lose, or draw against Leoly -- whose ranged damage is *much* higher than Alucard's. If your HP or DX were greater you'd beat Brock handily, but the former doesn't really fit the quick-kill model of an archer.

Mags May 10 2005 2:34 AM EDT

Uh, okay, now I lose badly to Deifeln.

Leoly shot Brock Samson with A Parthians Horse Bow [93398]

Pardon me while I go collect my missing limbs and find a tailor.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 10 2005 7:47 AM EDT

Even though NW increases weapon damage, there will come a time when it isn't possible to add any more NW to your weapon, While magic damage continues to grow.

Wouldn't dream of forecasting when this would be, or how long it would take for magic damage to overtake physical. But at some point, it will.

I also wouldn't be too surprised to find the creation of a power shield that reduces ranged damage instead of magic damage.

TrueDevil [AAA] May 10 2005 9:01 AM EDT

Duke and some other people, you're not getting my point. The point is, single tank can have 380 mil NW, and if you can't afford it, well really it's not my fault (but it's possible to achieve) but let's say a mage wanted to improve his team/strat/whatever. How ? 380 mil nw cornuthaum can help to become number 1 ? 380 mil nw MCM ? 380 mil ToE ? (yeah right, maybe in another life time, even then it still has its limit)

Mags May 10 2005 9:17 AM EDT

You point out a very important issue, Devilord, but to me it doesn't necessarily sound like a physical vs. magic damage problem. It could very likely be a magic itemization problem(give some items scaling +magic% based on enchant?) or it could be a USD/wealth distribution problem. Attaching that to physical damage or magic damage would cause issues for us vast unwashed masses who would like to have the choice of one or the other without NW being the largest basis for that decision.

TrueDevil [AAA] May 10 2005 9:26 AM EDT

Well, actually I'm not really complaining. In this game, mages are just the poor version of tank anyway.
