Help with Windows Media Player (in Off-topic)

Here's my story and I hope someone here can help me...

I decide to upgrade my WMP (Windows Media Player) to version 10 so i go and download the installer. I run it and when it finishes I get a window saying,

"It was not possible to complete Setup

WMP 10 was not installed. To update windows, run WMP 10 Setup again."

If i run the Setup again i get the same window every time. So, after that i decide just to play some music and I open up the WMP version I already had. When I do i get a screen that says,

"Welcome to WMP 10"

And then it just asks some installation preferences and I go through all that stuff and then I get a pop-up saying,

"An internal application error has occurred."

So right now I am stuck with no music and i would really appreciate any help because I don't know what to try.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I don't know, but maybe un-install the older version, then instal the 10 one.

if not that, download Winamp

Yep, un-install it completely, use winamp.

If I go to use winamp, how large is it because I have dial-up and I average 2 kb/sec while downloading.

Full version of Winamp is around 5 megs, but don't be discouraged. Windows Media Player does have it's uses. Uninstall Windows Media Player, reboot, reinstall. Also, I'm assuming you're on XP as Windows Media Player 10 (unless something has changed recently) doesn't run on any other OS.

windows media player 6.4 should work without any problems you have now takes a while to google for it but well worth :)

WMP 6.4 is already on Win XP, in the /system or /system32, maybe even the root windows folder iirc.
