Newb bonus length question (in General)

Jerk June 4 2005 1:12 AM EDT

OK I was talking to Bast and he said that there might be a problem with the length of my newb bonus or something. It says it is gonna last until September 9th and he says that seems to be too long a period. Just thought I would let you know.

Nameless evil June 4 2005 1:20 AM EDT

My newbie bonus will last until oktober. I joined about 8 hours ago. And one thing is strange for me it's not 80% but 109%, higher than a few hours ago.

Jerk June 4 2005 1:22 AM EDT

ok thats weird mine started out at 95% and has since settled in at 82 % for the past week or so.

Maelstrom June 4 2005 1:24 AM EDT

by the way, Bast is a she...

Jerk June 4 2005 1:36 AM EDT

o ok good to know well Bast if you read this I apologize for the gender mix up

It just seemed somewhat odd to me that RaijinBull is already in Rivendell, but will be in the bonus period 'til September. How many months is it supposed to be?

(Don't worry about it, it happens all the time.)

Nameless evil June 4 2005 1:52 AM EDT

I just realized that with three minions, each get only 8-10 exp, and the money is about 100-250 each won fight. At 80%, I got 10-20 exp each minions, and now it's never higher than 10 exp

AdminShade June 4 2005 9:33 AM EDT

experience is shared between your minions.

Nameless evil June 4 2005 11:05 AM EDT

Shade, I know that it's shared. But now, when I get high money reward, i get a slightly less total exp for all minions compared when I get less than 100$ money fighting reward. I think at higher newbie bonus, the randomness factor of fighting reward is increased.

AdminShade June 4 2005 11:25 AM EDT

rewards are also based on your pr and score vs your opponents pr and score, so when you have a higher pr (score) and fight less pr (score) people you get less rewards.

Special J June 4 2005 11:26 AM EDT

Was it goofy time, or what have you?

4 times per week, twice for each type, you will get less money and more XP, or less XP and more money.

It is in the FAQ and what you explained follows these guidelines.

AdminShade June 4 2005 12:33 PM EDT

mrwuss, I don't know about how you read it but i read it as him saying under normal fighting rewards times...

Special J June 4 2005 2:43 PM EDT

Well with him being new today would be the first whacky time he would have had, so it flagged to me since he spoke of getting more money and less XP.

About Rajinbull problem, If I were correct Rivendell is a realm for more experienced players than noobs in who stay in Shire. But what is the condition of a certain player so he/she is no longer in shire? Is it how many battles or another thing such as PR?

Bast, as far as I know, bonus length will last for a few months counted from the first day of registration. While for me it will last for about four months, Rajinbull newbie bonus will last until September 9th, that mean Rajinbull registered 120 days before September 9th. And it's as we can see at Rajinbull's profile.

From above, I conclude that newbie bonus period is fix, it won't change no matter what is their realm nor their pr. The newbie bonus period length is only affected by registration date of the corresponding player. No other factor involved. It will last for 120 days

mrwuss, shade was right, we're talking about normal time, not those special times as described at fighting FAQ. (It says bonus award)

And yes it's my first day, and that doesn't mean I never read FAQ located at top left corner. There was no note about the bonus time noticed in fighting FAQ at my battle. And I don't know if that note exist, but since the newbie bonus award note is present, I assume it will also appear at my battle screen when it happens.

bartjan June 4 2005 5:54 PM EDT

If the newbie bonus was 120 days long, then why didn't I have a newbie bonus until March 31th?

You change between realms depending on either the age of your account, or the age of your character, whichever is the oldest.

Undertow June 4 2005 6:18 PM EDT

It only takes like 3 weeks to make it to rivendell. If the new bonus lasts ~4 months, that would be just about exactly right.

BrandonLP June 4 2005 6:21 PM EDT

I thought the newbie bonus length had something to do with how long after the start of the game the new player started.

AdminJonathan June 5 2005 12:39 AM EDT

that is correct

Jerk June 5 2005 1:02 AM EDT

ok so I am not messed up or anything thats cool

Nameless evil June 5 2005 8:25 AM EDT

bartjan, you were registered before jan 9, you can read Some things that have changed since cb1 changelog thread. That's why you have a different length newbie bonus. Only players registered since january 9th have 120 days of newbie bonus. I get this information after searching at cb discussion board.

bartjan June 5 2005 8:40 AM EDT

I get my information straight from Jonathan (see above)...

AdminJonathan June 5 2005 9:19 AM EDT

more specifically, there are two parts to the newbie bonus

B = bonus amount
L = bonus length

B * L ~ (length of time CB2 has been running)

currently L is capped at 120 days

AdminShade June 5 2005 9:27 AM EDT

also bartjan never got the newbie bonus as he never was a newbie but a cb1 veteran ;)

Xiaz on Hiatus June 5 2005 9:28 AM EDT

Is there any way we can apply for a newbie bonus, because I'd love the bonus. Even if I have to put up with being called a "n00b!" :)

AdminJonathan June 5 2005 11:57 AM EDT

of course not
