Is CB2 a "Good Game"? (in General)

Icewindvz June 7 2005 4:50 PM EDT

What define a good game?

I am not sure how other nations define what a good game is. But I feel that our “American” define a good game by see how big a sale we can make out of one game. (Since U.S. is a market economy nation)

And for any online game, people often believe the value game money can be trade with real dollar reflects the status of game.

This is because the more U.S. dollars into the game shows that more people are playing this game, as well as more people believe in: there is a value in this game.

I believe the changed in CB2 made so far are base on, to make CB2 a better game then before, as well as given a better gaming experience for CB2 player. However I feel after each changed that made to the game, the value of CB2 money often decreases dramatically?

Or is really just we have cap out the new buyer, or is just we have too many seller?

CB2 is a "market economy game" and all free to trade. The amount of seller and buyer or supply and demand are always changed dynamically in such free economic system as well as in this free economic game. So we can see how item's networth can be higher than market sale value or in opposite, the price is pretty much higher than what actually sent for it. Supply and demand here bring to a rarity concept just like a regular economic system.

It's Not Good!!! Run While you all still can, RUN!!

It's too addictive!!

the only problem with the cb economy, is that money is coming in faster then it is going out (by out i mean back into the characters/weps/void) with money just coming out of nowhere, the value of cb dollars has nowhere to go but down cb2 - USD wise. if weps broke, or you had to replace them often/ upgrade to stay with your powerlevel, then money would keep a fairly steady value. but look at cb1...a mill there is worth almost nothing...

A "good game" to me is a really addicting game

LumpBot June 7 2005 11:14 PM EDT

A good game is a game where I find myself talking about it all the time. A game where I end up talking to certain friends non-stop about it...like CB =P

I've been playing for more than a year now, I love this game. But I have no idea why. I just keep coming back!

I love the strategic depth and deep sense of reward I get from attaining bigger items.

LumpBot June 7 2005 11:20 PM EDT

To simply argue your case, I'll say one game
"World of Warcraft"
They don't allow selling stuff for USD and there are tons of players.
Also the entire video game industry and many non-trading games.

speaking as someone who could never afford to buy all the new systems as they came out (I stayed with NES until about a full year after N64 came out, and never bought many new CPU games), the one factor that influences me opinion the most: replay value.
RPGs just take the cake when i choose what to spend time on. CB definitely has something that keeps me coming back.

Ahha I wasn’t expects my post got this many replies already +), thank you all for reply my topic.
Personally I want to say CB2 is a good game, as you said it’s a vary addicting game indeed =).

To Adrian Schiff:
1) I do agree with you, that CB2 is a market economy game, which means the value of items or money can be vary from time to time. However, the point I was trying to make is that: a lot of changes that has disturbed stability of the CB2 economy (this case is in a negative way)
2) Items price increase over time is expected factor of economy inflation. This doesn’t show the change made the game better. Also if you compare player “Actions” with few month before, I think the changes killed “Action” completely. (Note: few months ago, there are 200+ items in action each day, but look now 80+.)

To Spaceman[camperr]:
Yes, money isn’t everything, but money is the only thing that counts!
0) I understand a lot of MMORPG does not allow player to buy or sell items off world. However, if the game itself is good, I feel it is hard for any company to stop or should I can control off line player trading. Examples:
1) “World of Warcraft”: If you go to most of WoW fans site which have a forum section you can always see people selling WoW item or gold for USD. (The current ratio is 150 Gold per 10 USD minimums)
2) Runescape: “Rule 12 - RuneScape items must only be exchanged for other items/services within the game.” However, this didn’t stop players keep trading RS2 money for USD. (The current ratio for 1 Million RS2 coin to $30~35USD, price increased due to the recent changed)

To All:
Last thank every who have reply my post, I have to each of them is amazing and enjoy to read. In addition, we can show Jon how much we love this game ^_^!

Icewindvz, I don't know what's going on here for a couple months ago, I joined for just a couple days. We could say my opinion is a newb view.

I hope I'm just reading that out of context; otherwise, I'd feel sorry for you. There is so much more to life than just money.

Is CB2 a "Good Game"?

I've been playing CB for well over 2 years, so either I'm thick or CB is a good game.

I'm voting for option 2 :p

So much more to life then money? I dunno about that one, I mean lets be frank, everything in this world now revolves around money. People kill for money. A lottery win would bring much happiness to me and my family : )

CB2, IMO, No.

<------ my user pic

I think Jonathan has REALLY messed up cb2 terribly, I love cb1 I ujst wish he didn't kill it by not letting new players in.

csraven June 9 2005 11:27 AM EDT

i think that CB2 has a lot of really interesting tools to it that not many other RPG's have... such as a free trade market, and a real working economy... not even the real world can offer us such luxuries...

i agree that CB1 was a great game, it still is, and i play it almost as often as CB2... but i believe that CB1 was created as a beta version of CB2 to test the economy infrastructure...

as much as i play Carnage Blender, id have to say that i believe that Jon is using both CB1 and CB2 as a test for a much bigger real time economic game...

then again mabey not...

LumpBot June 9 2005 11:32 AM EDT

It is in fact against the rules to sell gold in WoW. And you pay money for that game, and I found CB to be better. I actually quit so I could spend more time on CB. I still say a good game is a game that you think about while NOT playing.

csraven June 9 2005 11:35 AM EDT

i whole heartedly agree... a good game is one that makes you dream about EG's EB's and a BoT... (drool drool)...

maulaxe June 9 2005 9:28 PM EDT

he is testing out his plans for world domination here and on CB1.

all hail Jon!
