Forging Hammers (in General)

I was thinking now that you've added a way for weapons to add to pr then is it possible to get a forging hammer made that could be held in the bow spot as you couldn't use that really to make a bow. That was one thing I thought should be excluded others could be.

I was also wondering if it could be forged to mak,e it a better forging hammer making it add more skill to your forging as everyone knows having the right tools always helps.

Me.

Forging skill ideas have been proposed before look in FORS (in the FAQ section) next time.

"Q: A forging skill would rock!
A: Skills are per-minion; forging is per-character. It doesn't fit, and it would be a bad idea even if it did."

Jon always tells me no anyway but every once in awhile he actually takes one of the ideas finally so it's always worth opening your mouth as if you never open your mouth you'll never get anything you desire...

Yeh, I mean how wacky was the idea of a "extra minion" or "familiar" on CB1. And look at what we have in CB2 now. :)

Well, why take up the bow spot? It really doesn't make much sense if you forge bows anyways and that has been part of the game for a long time.

Also forging the hammer would make it too easy to make money.
It would probably become an expensive item too.

Would you have to pay forge fees if you don't use the blacksmith's tools?

The bow spot because 1 Jon wouldn't want bow's forged any easier I am sure and it's not practical howeve, it would be practical to hold a shield or sword in one hand while you banged it with yer fancy hammer and yeh I'd say like rarest item in game until there are more released than another item...

This is on the assumption that the weapon pr is not added to the forging pr and that there is a null code coming off of it toward that. If that were the case it shouldn't be too hard to add .1% pr for every level you make your hammer.

what would that hammer do then?
where does the bow that you forge go, you have it still equipped right?
why need the hammer if the forge dwarf already lets you lend his hammer?

Well, I think the forge hammer isn't a great idea, but something needs to be done. The CB2 economy just doesn't support forging appropriately. I have determined that the BA consumption on the forge makes the savings a very thin margin as compared to fighting for the money to pay the blacksmith. At 200K MPR this doesn't make sense to me - shouldn't I have a greater incentive to forge since my MPR is so high?
