Are clan's really worth it? (in General)

Are clans really worth it?

I've been a couple of clans since i started, an i've noticed that all you really get, (for standard clans), is a 15% bonus to exp and money. I've also noticed that it's a lot harder to reach the top clan rank. I guess what i am saying is, being number one is just two hard, and getting there is just not worth a measly 15% bonus.

What i am looking for are new ideas that could be used to make being in a clan worth the struggle. Also looking for new ideas on how to get to number 1.

LumpBot June 21 2005 1:21 AM EDT

I can assure you that my clan is worth every ounce of work I put into this game. Best group of people I ever played with.

[Banned]Monty June 21 2005 1:26 AM EDT

both clans are worth it IMO

"all you really get, (for standard clans), is a 15% bonus to exp and money."

Oh, that's all, just 15%. Trust me, it helps.

As for getting to the top of the clan ranking, you and the rest of your clan would need to buy all possible BA each day, only fight against 3-point clan members, and win all the battles you fight.

I don't believe there is any "easy" way to get to the top - the whole point is that you have to work for it.

csraven June 21 2005 1:41 AM EDT

understandable, and i believe that most clans are trying there best to get to the top. all im tryin to do, is find new ideas for clan prizes and mabey some new ways to reach the top. mabey a few ways to make being in a clan more fun.

LumpBot June 21 2005 1:43 AM EDT

Try their best? Not really, we just do it. I think I'm the only person in my clan who really "tries" to keep the number 1 spot.

csraven June 21 2005 1:47 AM EDT

well good for you. there are three of us in my clan who give it all theyv'e got. and i applaud all clanners who fight for their clans. but what would make being in a clan more fun?

Undertow June 21 2005 2:04 AM EDT

I don't think clans are worth it, because to keep your clan bonus you need to target only clan members, and that means that you don't hit people as high as you could. Your fight list looks a lot better when you can include non-clanners in it. You grow faster, IMHO.

Jason Bourne June 21 2005 4:39 AM EDT

sounds like you want a tournament to me. we have cb1 for that. if you are not in cb1, well, that sucks

AdminShade June 21 2005 5:12 AM EDT

measly 15% bonus?

thats getting $1150 and 115 exp per fight instead of 1000 and 100

on 1000 fights that is a bonus of $150,000 and 15,000 exp.

you also get a small bonus to every fight you do, even when having no clan bonus at all (this is a few free %)

the reason why it isn't easy to get to the top is because the 'top people' want to stay at the top, which is understandable.
You would have to have a team of devoted people that can fight a lot each day to make it worth, clans full of slackers are worthless as to speak with how you see it.

Look at Battle Royale, Brimstone and Hellfire, they are in #1 #2 and #3 now, they all have 5 or 6 clan members that all fight a lot to get the points needed.

so the new idea to have a chance at being #1 is just getting in a clan in which ALL people contribute points to their best possibilities.

I agree with at least one point here.... GIVE US TOURNAMENTS!!!!!! ... please?

AdminShade June 21 2005 5:25 AM EDT

what do tournaments have to do with clans? NOTHING! :D

Xiaz on Hiatus June 21 2005 7:09 AM EDT

As if being in a clan and fighting is a struggle.

When this clan system didn't exist we would fight our butts off and get

NO BONUS

. Just be grateful for what we have now, okay?

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] June 21 2005 8:49 AM EDT

Yes.

QBJohnnywas June 21 2005 8:52 AM EDT

That's style: 'Yes.'

lol

=)

Xiaz, I can say without a doubt, I live for your wonderfully insightful and positive comments about absolutely everything. You are a joy, no, a blessing to CB. *rolls eyes*

I've made a lot of great friends and contacts from clans. My clans current bonus usually fluctuates from 7%-11% (right now being an exception) and that really helps out during crazy time. 15% is a pretty darn good reward for your effort.

QBsutekh137 June 21 2005 9:50 AM EDT

If you are doing for the people and can find a group you can depend on, yes.

In all other cases, no.

Phaete June 21 2005 10:06 AM EDT

Even if the clan has no bonus at that time, you still get a small bonus for fighting other clanpeople.

@Brandon (aka NotFughsomething)
It's always nice to see you sidetracking to stab some people, you show your true colors. keep believing that you are wanted and nice, and the whole world will fall for ya :P

@Everyone Else:
My apologies to all for trespasing and not letting this unsaid, i'm deeply ashamed of going to the same depths :(

QBsutekh137 June 21 2005 10:23 AM EDT

Shade and Phaete have now both pointed out that clan-fighting, even without a bonus, yields some amount of extra reward. Jonathan stated this to be true at the inception of clans on CB1.

However, in my experience, I would be immensely surprised if that "hidden" bonus amount to even 1% (not the few percent that Shade alludes to). I have done much non-clan fighting, clan fighting with bonus, and clan fighting without bonus, and can tell you that I have no nnoticed any significant gains from clan fighting with no bonus. As Undertow has already pointed out, having the freedom to fight as high as you need and not worry about clans can also yield gains, and I am quite certain those gains can be greater than the "hidden" bonus.

chernobyl June 21 2005 12:17 PM EDT

Shade,
I don't know what kind of rewards I pay out to you, but they better not be in the $1000 range. The best reward I've ever seen is $439 during crazy money (with 12.1% - that equates to about a base of $380).

My average reward without craziness is usually in the $150 / 25 XP range. With an unfeasible 15%, that works out to $172 and 29 XP - not much of a difference at all! Maybe the extra money earned from 160 BA can go toward something, but 640 bonus XP is just not going to impact my strategy at 200K MPR. Even at fighting six times a day - that's spending 960 BA - would net a whopping 3840 XP extra.

As far as getting us to #1, raven - we would all have to fight 8 times a day and buy all our BA for three days just to hit the top 5; I've pushed it out of my mind.

csraven June 21 2005 1:10 PM EDT

i've pushed it out of my mind as well... and thats the problem... the struggle to reach #1 is just way two hard for the cassual player... i mean, even im considering leaving the clan im in now just so i can have more forging time, and not have to worry about loosing clan points...

but i dont, because i want to see my reach the top just as much as every other clan... so can you people use your imaginations for one day, and feed me ideas on how to make being in a clan more fun / usefull for the common player... thats all im really asking for...

BrandonLP June 21 2005 2:14 PM EDT

Trust me Phaete, you have lots of room to talk about the whole world liking you. =)

csraven, if you're not getting enjoyment out of interacting with your clan members and making use of the bonus, there's not much clans can offer you. As much as I like clans in this game, I'd hate for Jon to add more incentive to be in a clan as I believe players should be able to choose either way and really not miss out on much.

Undertow June 21 2005 2:18 PM EDT

The casual player in the casual clan will never reach number one. When you use every BA you've got on only 3 point clanners for 16 hours a day, then maybe. But you'd better find 5 other people that do the same thing.

Tenchi Muyo June 21 2005 3:06 PM EDT

Don't forget clanned people get attacked far more, and that means you might wake up with some nice xp/$. I gain quite a bit of XP while I sleep from all the attacks on me.

QBsutekh137 June 21 2005 4:49 PM EDT

Wow, clan members at your level must be pretty stupid to be losing against you.

When I was in a clan, I could go an entire day without gaining any experience from people throwing themselves at me. Who is losing to you? Why?

NSFY June 21 2005 4:52 PM EDT

HEY! Who are you calling stupid!

Karmic Mishap [Soup Ream] June 21 2005 5:02 PM EDT

Geez.. no kidding! Clanners lose to me all the time! I wouldn't necessarily call them stupid for attacking me, though... actually, it seems that a lot of the fights I win on defense are because of the difference in battle order. Many people who lose to me regularly when attacking whip on me when I attack them back. Ahh well. At least I get what I do for beating them on defense! ^_^
