I just hit 24 on my Protection (in General)

As the player with the highest protection level in the game, I feel it's my duty to keep you all abreast of my findings.

So here they are. It looks like I have not yet hit the protection cap. As to the exact nature of the spell (i.e., how, when, and how much damage it prevents), that's still up for debate.

why dont you test it then?

i mean it shouldnt be that hard, only makes you lose some battles perhaps...

unequip all armor and equip a (near base) Mage Shield, fight some people with tanks (due to mage shield nature its best to fight tanks) and write down all the damages you have taken on all your minions and against which character that was.

now remove the mage shield and write down the damages you take from fighting again. then you can calculate the damage difference (for your protection)

then multiple people with different protections should do the same ;)

also 1 thing about your graphs, some points look a bit out of place to me the graph should make a nice and easy curve but some points are out of that curve...

this of course makes the bottom graph look very strange...

How does protection work now?

Is it still the usual AC? I feel a bit newbie to be honest ":)

someone[onabreak] June 23 2005 8:50 AM EDT

I know the graphs look strange. I am still looking for better numbers for all the points below 13 or so. The "best number" is one that is the lowest possible first number that achieves the effect in parentheses.

I believe those points may be as Jon intended, tho.

And no, Protection in CB2 is *not* AC. It is some other form of protection, the exact effect of which is unknown at this time.

TheEverblacksky June 24 2005 11:04 PM EDT

it's a percent reduction....

Xiaz on Hiatus June 25 2005 4:52 AM EDT

And what percent is this "percent reduction"? Does a 24 Protection spell give 24% reduction?

Manta June 25 2005 7:38 AM EDT

Todd's own words: Protection offers a % damage reduction equal to its level. Meaning, Protection of 20 offers 20% reduction of damage (after AC); Looking for CB2 Protection data. So, the answer to Xiaz's question is yes.

However, I do not know how much we can trust this statement.

Protection: 2,975; Lvl: 6
