Contest For Huge Morgul (in Contests)

LumpBot July 1 2005 5:41 PM EDT

The Sword of Ashes [84x81] (+56) (Morgul-Hammer) $9,863,850

I know you want it, so take it. It's easy to do.

I am going to retire from CB2. I really feel I don't belong here anymore. The rules I played by don't mean anything anymore to me. So I'm done.

TO WIN: Tell me what is the most important aspect of CB. If your answer agrees with mine, I'll give it away. This will run until someone wins.

Undertow July 1 2005 5:42 PM EDT

free economy.

SaintMichael July 1 2005 5:43 PM EDT

I think the most important aspect of CB if the community involvement and closeness which truley makes CB unique to other games.

QBRanger July 1 2005 5:44 PM EDT

For me its simple.

You may be shocked but its not the winning.

For me its the chat/CM and the new people who you meet. People who you can talk/chat to about almost anything as long as its PG :-)

BMWheatley July 1 2005 5:45 PM EDT

Fighting and/or helping new players out so they dont get confused and leave.

you shouldnt go btw. well... see ya.

[SoM]CupofJoe [Peoples Bank of Carnage] July 1 2005 5:46 PM EDT

For me it's the strategy. I enjoy trying to use a strategy that not only works, but breaks the mold of what everyone else is doing.

TheEvolution July 1 2005 5:46 PM EDT

Well CB is a great game with a great community, nice people, not like most people from Runescape and junk. CB is just one of those games were you can't stop playing (addictive). There CB has a great community and is one addictive game!

Sorry to see you go Spaceman, you'll be remembered!

WeaponX July 1 2005 5:50 PM EDT

the most important thing about cb is the people. without all the crazy charachters we have around it things would get stale.. another important thing is Change month because it brings a new spark into the game.

Undertow July 1 2005 5:52 PM EDT

sorry2 keep it short. On screen keyboard.

LumpBot July 1 2005 5:53 PM EDT

Also you can guess multiple times.

WeaponX July 1 2005 5:54 PM EDT

camping?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 1 2005 5:57 PM EDT

To me i feel CB is run and kept up by a community that gets along much more than i have ever seen on any other multiplayer game, you see people helping others (sometimes not even stuff about CB), people trying to get their word out to try and "fix" something as they see fit, and to have more people join and join to get an even higher NUB to make people mad...=P

And you gotta respect the odd month changes, because without change theres nothing. And this is a very big change seeing you leave.....g/l in RL Spaceman. We know you cant stray off for too long though, so come back quickly...=)

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] July 1 2005 5:58 PM EDT

It is a good game because you think about it while NOT playing?

Just taking something from what you've posted before hehe..

Aco July 1 2005 6:00 PM EDT

making loads of money (usd) while not even fighting, eh?

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] July 1 2005 6:00 PM EDT

Free to play CB ^

LumpBot July 1 2005 6:07 PM EDT

Oxtetor, that is a very clever reply. I'm surprise you remembered that! But not quite what I had in mind. It is a reason I enjoy it, not the reason I played so heavily.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 1 2005 6:10 PM EDT

You enjoy thinking of strategy's for being at he top no matter if its forging...fighting....camping, you wanted to be the best and enjoyed trying to get to that status.

TheEvolution July 1 2005 6:10 PM EDT

The excitement of achieving something, a certain PR, or a rare from the store.

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] July 1 2005 6:11 PM EDT

Darn, thought for sure that was right!

Hmm, a way to escape from some stupid stuff in real life?

Now I am just taking guesses...

Will [Retired] July 1 2005 6:17 PM EDT

I found exactly the same problem as you have, it is the same a in life. I have quit from CB 3 times. What you are really asking is what is life? To be the best is not to be happy necessarily, to be happy you have to find that something that interests you. It doesn't have to be the best or the biggest, in fact, its best if you didn't bench it on anyone else. The main thing is that you enjoy what you do. If you like camping and the challenge it gives then fine, if you like the forging side of things then thats cool also. What I found is that the only thing you cannot provide for yourself in life is other people, the community has it. There is no way that on your own you will find such a wide range of opinions and personalities that you can find in the community. The best aspect of CB is its longevity and the influence that you can leave after you have gone. You can help people to make the right decisions and help them in the long run after you have gone. What I am saying is that its best to leave a legacy than to just give up on a whim, take a leaf out of Jibfest's or Gun's book, help some newbys out and help CB to last that little bit longer...

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] July 1 2005 6:19 PM EDT

It's fun!

Will [Retired] July 1 2005 6:21 PM EDT

Oh and the reason you have enjoyed it so long is the wheeling and dealing aspect of CB, how much $ you can make from selling something on to someone else when you bought it for 500k cheaper.... :)

LumpBot July 1 2005 6:22 PM EDT

SBD, very well said. And you have a wonderful reasoning behind it. Yes, this does also pertain in real life. And in a way I am asking, "What is most important in life" But I hate to say....this is not what I had in mind and doesn't compute with my answer.

STILL NO WINNER

Mikel [Bring it] July 1 2005 6:25 PM EDT

Well CB2 has lot of ways to make money, whether it be camping, auctions, buying and reselling or just fighting like mad during wacky $ time.

But I think it's really the people you surround yourself with. You come to learn about each other and sometimes you learn alot about yourself and other people, which always makes life interesting and helps you thru the tougher times.

GL in life though SC, you were one of the first people that I chatted with in here.

TheEvolution July 1 2005 6:31 PM EDT

the success of your character, camping or forging?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] July 1 2005 6:34 PM EDT

i think balance is the most important aspect of cb. balance within the game and balancing the game with real life. yin and yang!

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 1 2005 6:36 PM EDT

friends, trust, food and shelter...lol (but since CB doesnt have food or shelter, scratch those two)

BrandonLP July 1 2005 6:39 PM EDT

Interaction. Much like in real life, people come to like you and dislike you. By the same token, you come to like certain people and dislike others.

For example: As you and I both know, I didn't like you at first. =P After chatting with you about CB2 as well as life, we came to some agreements, traded goods, and now I would easily call you a friend.

the most important aspect of Carnage Blender, is the growth of the community.

here in this game we have a sense of community unlike any other place i have found. i have better talks about life and things here then anywhere else. without the chatrooms, cb would still be a great game, but with the community here you have a perfect one. here you can build a reputation for youself, you can be somebody important. not everyone here is the social God of their community, we are the regulars, some lower on the social scale, others higher. but here, we all start on the same page and we can make something of ourselves. we can build a reputation for ourselves through being good at fighting, strategizing, camping, forging, anything!

Nixon Jibfest put it perfectly when he said that Reputation is more important than cash. what you have made for youself here is nothing compared to the reputation you build here. here you learn how to treat people with respect, gain others' respect, and make something out of yourself. these are all skills you can carry over into real life! think of CB as a "training community" he we train you to be a better person, and make something of yourself.

that is what the most important aspect of CB is to me, building a reputation, and making something out of yourself. without a reptuation of some sort, you are just another guy in another game, here you can be somebody, have some friends and even when you dont feel like fighting, you can come back and hang out with people who have missed you!

even if you dont feel like there is a point to moving up in cb2 spaceman, you dont have to quit, you have friends here who will miss you. come back and hang out with us sometime! ang good luck in real life :D

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] July 1 2005 7:28 PM EDT

The most important aspect of CB is to have fun, this is a form of entertainment, and as such requires you to have fun. Sure skills can take you far, but if you do not have fun doing it, well thats when it ends, in my opinion. So I say you are no longer having fun, and as such are leaving.

On a personal note, I will be sorry to see you go :)

thebloomdog12 July 1 2005 7:36 PM EDT

the best aspect of carnageblender is the ability to unleash as much carnage and destruction as possible... and the best part is its legal.

wldflr July 1 2005 7:36 PM EDT

The camaraderie you share with fellow elite campers. :)

Nixon Jibfest July 1 2005 7:39 PM EDT

My bet is with SoulCalibur, not because he mentions me, but because I think you built yourself a very respectable reputation on CB whether it was as a fighter, forger, or camper.

Mem July 1 2005 8:18 PM EDT

I would say that the most important aspect of CB is that you treat this game as a game and just have fun. You are given many different ways to accomplish this, whether it's camping, forging, fighting, chatting, chatmailing, etc., and that is what makes this game great.

People have tended toward treating this as something more than a game lately (I won't pretend that I haven't shown this weakness) and I believe that's what has turned you off to CB. I have only continued on myself because of chat and a few people that I have come to see as friends. The game has become secondary and almost just a way to pass time.

If I should happen to win I don't want the Morgul Hammer. Give it to some new player. It doesn't matter to me.

Also, many players are very clever! I have been asked very well thought out CMs that give slight hints. I applaud Ranger on this mostly.

Making others happy by helping their strat or teaching them how to forge, you may even give then free gear.

WeaponX July 1 2005 9:15 PM EDT

you feel that this game is fun and feel that helping others to enjoy it as much as you do is great. i think you value mentoring as well. you feel that since this game is not a way to make usd it is nice to bring a smile to someone's face by giving them a gift is also cool.

Blondebabygirl12 July 1 2005 9:19 PM EDT

To bring pleasure to less fortunate members of carnageblender is what i think you feel is the best part about carnageblender. The power to change someone's day, month for the better all because you could teach, or give them an item they have been longing for is an amazing feeling.

SaintMichael July 1 2005 9:27 PM EDT

You feel that since you were helped so well by the community that you'd like to give back to it. So you help noobs by acting as a stepping ladder laying down a concept of strategy or giving away of items. "For the first shall be last and the last shall be first" type thing.

Xentrik July 1 2005 9:38 PM EDT

The most important aspect of CB is the economy. Whether it is the USD conversion, the black market, the camping of items or what have you. I know that you personally had a lot to gain from 1 month of camping. It paid for that little college mishap that you owed your parents for, and I also know that you had a rivalry with any camper that opposed you. :)

Special J July 1 2005 9:42 PM EDT

Getting to know others.

Only thing CB is really meant to be.

SaintMichael July 1 2005 9:43 PM EDT

(This is My own view but we'll see)
CB is important to you because it gives you a alternative way to glorify God, and by helping noobies you are glorifying the creator. Even though you aren't necessarily sharing your devoute faith you're giving them every chance to see God at work in you, and if they ask and tell them your a christian it gives you more satifaction then having a huge character.

OR the solid mentors that unselfishly donate time and money to noobs that end up becoming strong.

Relic July 1 2005 10:56 PM EDT

I would add being completely honorable (being able to be trusted by those you associate with on the game) and not stooping to the level of hypocrisy in order to get ahead.

strongbad July 1 2005 11:42 PM EDT

The most important aspect of CB for you was helping people. One can learn a lot about themselves (both inter and intrapersonal relationships) by being generous. By being generous, you were setting examples of how people should live their lives. CB was never about greed, but about making friends and having a good time.

TrueDevil [AAA] July 1 2005 11:45 PM EDT

Helping others and not to make enemies ? ;)

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] July 1 2005 11:57 PM EDT

The best part about CB, is that (most) players are accepting of new players, and dont treat them as lesser players because they have yet to learn the details of fighting, or forging, or whatever it may be. The players who have been here longer have a positive attitude towards any players, answering questions that could easily be answered with a simple: "Read the FAQ/Help section, newbie!" Mentors can also be found giving "starter packs" of armor/weapons to their mentees, and for most new players, thats probably enough to encourage them to stick around and see why CB is so great for all these people. :)

In a quick summary: Veterans are nice to new (and not so new) players, and show great generosity and patience with many players.

Biscuitback July 2 2005 12:51 AM EDT

i'll tell you what is great about cb, and i'm sure most of the people here can agree.

it all started when i finally got a computer, and i am a real dnd or rpg gamer, and my ps2 just got stollen. i play games as a way to get away from real life, or just something to keep me company.

i must have went through like 20 online games that just wasn't all that good (you know). saw one that said carnage blender (doesn't even have a rpg name), and i was like this is probably gonna be like the rest, but i tried it anyways. even shocked me more when i logged on was that there was no graphics...lol. but i learned to never judge a book by it's cover. so i gave it a try.

i started out with a whip...lol, didn't know my up from down. there was alot of people that helped me and kinda told me the basics. when i realized i liked it i read some of the faqs. been playing for about a year now and i'm still a NOOB...lol.

this game is very addicting. but it's addicting for alot of reasons.
i don't know how many times i laugh at the people chatting, or talking to new people. i even have a friend that i have known all my life and this is one of the ways we keep touch now. there's history in this game, and alot of skill and competition. whether it be camping or getting the best strat (which i'm not good at either). but this game keeps me coming back everyday (sometimes it seems 100 times a day) just to know what's goin on. this says alot about a game.

in fact i'm so shocked at how good this game is, i'm surprised it's free...lol

i could probably go on forever (in fact i think i already did) but this is what i think is the most important aspect of the game.. it's not one thing, but it's a whole COMMUNITY of things.

my one essay for cb...lol

wishmama July 2 2005 1:02 AM EDT

CB2 was a lot like life you had to be competitive but it was in a fun pure way not malicious. Getting to know people and helping them, it was like family.
The heart seems to have left CB2 along with some good players, it seems as though no one cares about what CB2 really means. A world where you can help shape it. The players make or destroy that world, and now it seems like there's no sense to it.

LumpBot July 2 2005 1:26 AM EDT

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ

This is closed. I am very sorry but I can no longer argue against the logic that many CB players have put to keep me here. I am overly shocked at the amount of participants not in this thread, but in CM asking me to reconsider and "wait another week". I really can't thank the CB economy for pulling together like that. Ranger deserved the QB because he had some smooth talking for at least an hour reasoning. Many in depth and intellegent conversation and people I have never met before CMed me asking things on why I'd leave.

I have to be fair though! No one did answer 100% BUT wishmama was very close and almost perfectly on top. I was impressed and I doubt she did research but I guess she knows it all =P

So in short the answer: "The best aspect of CB2 is the ability to influence the mass without the attention. I can aid newbs and top players alike and not brag. I get to be silient, stealthy and yet give to everyone. As Lao-Tzu mentioned, The best way to govern is to not be known that you are in charge. I am not in charge, but I do feel a certain level of influence in players new and old alike."

For simple terms. I enjoy mostly the ability to help out everyone but I don't let it known. I've never really been one to go boosting or bragging about cheap deals and free things. I think it is important to give without waving your own flag than anything else.

This thread may seem to argue that, but this was the best way to see how the community felt about CB, not about me giving something away.

ANYWAY, wishmama, since you neglected the part where I didn't want to be noticed or rewarded for my deeds you do not get the grand prize. You do however get a 1.5 million NW Blade of Thuringwethil.
