JaKobi1Kenobi [Shrimp gang] July 7 2005 1:28 PM EDT

dont get hit

Will [Retired] July 7 2005 1:31 PM EDT

...and wear gloves, the CO2 canisters make your hands go cold and numb, when you get shot on them its painful.

NSFY July 7 2005 1:33 PM EDT

Todd is a paintball expert.

Fuhgawz July 7 2005 1:36 PM EDT

Todd has nothing on paintball compared to me!

Biscuitback July 7 2005 1:36 PM EDT

i used to paint ball all the time. one advice, always wear your mask!!!

Vagabond July 7 2005 1:37 PM EDT

Its extremely addicting. The price to play has came down quite a bit in the last few years, so that's a plus.

Think of it less as a war game and more as a sport. Speed and agility is much more important then sneakiness and "war" tactics. A good team should excel at communicating on the field and knowing how each other will react.

There's also a big difference between competitive 3, 5, or 10 man team paintballing and just showing up at a field for a big open game on the weekends. Both are fun and exciting in their own way.

[corrected]TheRealKiller July 7 2005 1:40 PM EDT

well i should go paintball in september with some friends but i know i gone like it alot :p

JaKobi1Kenobi [Shrimp gang] July 7 2005 2:55 PM EDT

oh and where a hat i was hiding in a base and i got hit right on the top of the head and listen to the rules my friend after he shot me he came around to the base and shot me again and you are soppsed to say surrender before you shoot up close so make sure you listen to the rules

Aco July 7 2005 3:48 PM EDT

make sure you use proper grammar, or at least something that resembles it, so that I can at least have the idea you took the time to properly write a post...

Todd July 7 2005 4:06 PM EDT

I play paintball.. a lot.

Fughawz also plays a lot. He's younger and faster than I am

Sounds like you have a woods ball marker.. a lot of fun. Go to www.warpig.com that has a lot of info on paintball

3D July 8 2005 2:50 PM EDT

Actually Jake you don't have to. You can if you want or you can just blast them. If your hit yell it then they should stop. Thats when theyre breaking the rules. Of course, It probably is different wherever you go. And gloves don't seem like a problem to me. I got shot there couple times and it didnt hurt.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] July 8 2005 2:59 PM EDT

It is against most institutions rules to shoot closer than 6 foot without warning and any smart person warned will surrender to save themselves.
I went last year and got blindsided behind a tank in the terrain and got shot in the back from 6 inches without warning, so I shot him in the back of the head from the same distance for good measure :)
I truly advise the following of rules though as I had a bit of a lecture after my reaction even though he provoked me so keep in mind that retaliation and breaking of rules aren't good ideas.

Undertow July 8 2005 3:24 PM EDT

Before I share this I just wanted to point out that Paintball is moderatly safe when the proper precautions are taken, in the following story the proper precautions were NOT taken, and that's why I'm sharing it.

A friend of mine and his friends were paintballing in a public park after hours (it's illegal to be in the park after hours, so they weren't too worried about hitting anyone else ;) ).

When the were suiting up for the game, when the other players didn't realise that my friend hadn't put on his mask yet. He raised his head to shout "stop firing!" when he was shot in the face.

In his right eye, specifically.

Now he's blind in that eye (that spot on that eye, it's like a hole in what he sees.). He can no longer read anything that's not on a computer moniter, any books or magizines make him ill, like reading in a car. He's been working through this for a long time, and can now read for about an hour. But the damage is permanant.

Paintball safety, much like safety in foot ball or baseball or Dagorhir (woot, dag plug www.dagorhir.com) is ultra important. Don't shurg it off, or think that "Just don't hit in the face" as a house rule is fine substitution for a mask, it's not.

Just to let everyone know, yes my friends were idiots. Yes they know they're idiots. Yes they guy who shot my friend feels HORRIBLE. Yes I would not recommend anyone follow their example. They were dumb.

AdminShade July 8 2005 3:25 PM EDT

who doesn't? ;P

AdminShade July 8 2005 3:26 PM EDT

Tip: don't paint balls :P

Undertow July 8 2005 3:27 PM EDT

When the were suiting up for the game, when the other players didn't realise that my friend hadn't put on his mask yet

Should read "They were suiting up for the game, when the other players didn't realise he didn't have his mask on yet.

Dragon Slayer July 8 2005 4:37 PM EDT

sounds like you got a tippmann A5 they're nice guns...get a nice masks and full finger gloves you'll need them and you might want a neck protector, seeing as how it can be kinda painful when you get shot up close in the neck.

Trauma July 13 2005 6:45 PM EDT

Alright I paintball about every week if i dont answer something you want to know CM or PM me now about the gun as Dragon Slayer says its probably an A5 now dont take these guns on a speedball or hyperball course beacause this is a strictly woodsball gun now all those people who talk about gloves and such they restrict your finger movement quite a bit so I dont wear them now when you go its ok to ask questions most people will be very happy to help you out on my first time back when I was a little newbie to paintball couple years ago you do this thing called chrono'ing your gun and they turn your gun up or down so your not shooting to fast now you put your gun on a little ledge and shoot and a readin comes out I shot the actual chrono now I could tell the ref was mad but he told me what to do and helped me out so ask lots of questions yeah and about playing you have to talk and work together if you dont do those two things you have already lost in woodsball you need to talk a lot to determine player positions theres a lot more to say but if theres anything specific as I said PM or CM me

Undertow July 13 2005 8:04 PM EDT

Okay, Trauma, this is why I'm not an admin.

That whole paragraph NOT ONE PIECE OF PUNCUATION!

NOT ONE! DO YOU NOT BREATH?

{CB3}-HR22 July 14 2005 11:05 AM EDT

I am very addicted to paintball. My first marker somewhat sounded like yours (tippmann 98 custom) I chucked all my money into this gun and spent every penny i made into paintball. I had nearly every upgrade for that darn gun. This is something i would not recommend you doing. Do not waste your money upgrading a gun. The best you can do is save it up and buy a better gun. After you get the hang of woodsball, try playing airball, speedball, or hyperball. Even though everyone sayd that your gun isnt suitable for this, there wrong. You can shoot any gun you want and as long as you can point, aim, and pull the trigger you will be fine. It doesnt matter at all what gun you have, i have taken out several players with guns double, nearly triple, the cost of my 04 BKO, and im just a kid. One thing i would recomend for any gun is an electric hopper and compressed air. After you play several times and actually want to play, then i would recomend buying a much better marker. I personally think the best bang for yourt buck would be the SmartParts ION. It is fast, realiable, and has a low price tag. Good luck in your paintballing experience!

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] July 14 2005 11:14 AM EDT

Not to be all "Undertow", but what have you people got against paragraph breaks? Are you channeling James Joyce?

If you are switching to HTML and <nospellcheck>ing your entire post -- shame on you. But if you must, at least add the occasional <br>!

Special J July 14 2005 11:48 AM EDT

Bast Bast Bast!

It is <br />!

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] July 14 2005 6:05 PM EDT

<br> Works fine for me...

[Banned]Monty July 18 2005 9:48 AM EDT

its <br> >.>

AdminG Beee July 18 2005 10:45 AM EDT

<br> and <br /> will both work fine.

However for the record, Hell's Razor22 wrote his reply in Plain Text and genuinely didn't bother with paragraph breaks either using the HTML or 1st grade English style :)

PS. Only been on a paintball day out once in my life and was bruised for days afterwards, haven't done it since.
It definitely makes you appreciate what being "shot at" must be like when 15 hopeless myopic colleagues from my office can gun me down multiple times from 20 yards.

dnnx July 18 2005 2:49 PM EDT

one tip, wear a hat under your mask, works wonders

and dont camp, no point in going out and play if you camp in the back,

ok so that was 2 tips, enjoy

Dragon Slayer July 18 2005 3:18 PM EDT

contrary to what trauma said earlier there is no such thing as a woodsball or speedball marker just play wherever you want to with the marker.

i would highly reccomend getting compressed air(if the field you play at fills it), a nice regulator as it makes a huge difference in consistency between shots, also a nice barrel because tippmann stock barrels are horrible .

dnnx July 18 2005 4:22 PM EDT

>Of course you can take a tipman or sypder or whatever for speedball / airball,
you wont be as effiicient, but as long as you can shoot at the
oppsosite team, you will have fun, and that is what the game should be about.
Hey it only takes one hit to eliminate a player, you dont have to shoot 20
tubes in one round.

Dragon Slayer July 18 2005 5:06 PM EDT

only time it really matters is in a tournament but even then you can still succeed with those guns look at tippmann effect.

Trauma July 23 2005 11:39 PM EDT

Contrary to what Dragon said

Why do you think Angel,Intimidators,Shocker........and other high end guns were made? Because you need speed in (SPEEDball). Now I should revise what I previously said, they aren't going to say you can't play with that gun on speedball but you will be at a disadvantage to people with speedball guns. Now tippmann effect uses tippmann because they are sponsor them. But drudge you play and do whatever you want. Yeah but the #1 thing to do is have a lot of fun and enjoy it .

Special J July 23 2005 11:54 PM EDT

My first gun was a spider electra. First thing I did to the gun was mod the trigger and the board giving me the speed I needed to fire rapidly.

I quickly learned yes I can fire 3 to 5 shots a second, but they sure didn't fly right.

Now I have a trunk of paintball equipment and not a soul to play with, everyone I started with got bored with spending the money on paint and field fees in the area I live. We only had one field, the owner had a heart attack and it was closed.
