It is a sword and not a bow, ELBs are all the rage these days.
Everyone wants to win every fight before melee.

Greed, Vorpal made ELS and BoTH pretty much common.

Also Katanas are almost useless to buy from the store. They are now the new "Two Handed Flails"
Of course everybody wants to win in ranged... those FM/FF teams do it all the time to us....
Nerf the FF, not the Vorpal blade! :p
... what, is that not a correct abbreviation for Fire Familiar? I bet ToF is still in the spellcheck... sure is! Geez...

As Jon last explained it to me, ELSs and BoThs both rock VBs because of upgrade prices, as the market will eventually reflect.
Also, have you seen the prices being asked for the ELS and BoTh currently? (1.5 million and 3.7 million, respectively). Thus. saying that you can hardly give them away is laughable.

BoTHs do not go for 3.7 million base, and 1.5 million compared to 4 million is quite laughable. Seeing morgul go for that much.
you can give me one if you really want to give it away but having a hard time doing so...=P

There will come a point when the price to upgrade a VB will bottom out. I believe it's upgrade cost are somewhere in between an exec and katana. When this happens, people are going to want the ELS again. I encourage anyone out there to buy them up while they're cheap. It's the highest base damage one-handed weapon for crying out loud.

The market price is not driven by the power of a item but by is demand. You should ask who want to use a ELS.

VBs aren't the reason I wouldn't pay for an ELS anymore.
The reason for ELS price drop is that there aren't any compelling reasons to use a 1-handed weapon.
Consider the following:
The only reason to use a 1-handed weapon is for lower penalties with a shield.
NW counts towards power, so High AC Mithril sheilds are less attractive.
Your other primo shield options, Mage and Tulkas Shields, can't be worn with Tattoos. ToA tanks blow every other tank (except Unarmed Tanks, which don't need ELS) out of the water.
Also, Non-ToA tanks can wear Mage Shields without penalty, because they have a penalty of 0%, and the 2 handed penalty gets multiplied by 0. (Pulled from a thread.)
Thus, the shield penalties are nearly irrelevent.
This makes Blackswords and MH superior. (And the BoTh is cooler)
Now ask yourself: Would you spend over 2 million for a (near base) second-tier weapon?
I wouldn't. I'd rather save a bit more and buy a weapon with a better base damage.
I haven't tested it, but I bet you that BL+VP = Butt Kicking.
Especially when armor values start to rise as NW caps increase.

I'm pretty sure it'd need to be a DOUBLE chain mail to do this!
