Stupid question about battles (in General)

Something that has always bothered me...

I've been under the impression that during a battle both sides attack simultaneously. So if that is the case how is that against some opponents if I attack them I lose but if they attack me I win. That's not occasionally either that's in every occurence. Shouldn't the attacking and defending battles have the same outcome?

Not really vital to my life to know the answer but it would be nice if anyone could help me shed some light on this! =)

Advantage: defender

Clear and concise! Thanks.

Johnny,

The defender does have an advantage but its not a set on in the program. One key point to remember is this: If your an attacker and kill a defenders minion in a certain round, even though that minion is dead s/he gets their attack off anyway.

Now as to your question:

Its most applicable when there is a FB in melee, GA or AMF. The example I will use is for a FB in melee. Right now I cannot come up with a GA or AMF example thats concise.

Now lets say an attacker has 3 minion with a large FB (on the last minion) vs a defender with a tank and 3 minions also. No familiars to make things easier.
Also, lets say all the minions make it to melee.

Melee round 1:
Now attacker casts FB and the backsplash kills the first 2 of his own minions (low HP enchanters lets say) but none of the opponents. So the 3rd minion in that round takes the damage from the tank and lets say its enough to kill the 3rd minion on the FB team. So at the end of round 1, FB character has 3 dead, Tank has none dead. Now if that 3rd minion was the FB caster the tank will win.

Reverse that and lets say the tank attacks. What happens is that the first of the minions in the FB character takes the tanks damage and dies. When the defender (FB character) attacks the splashback only kills the 2nd enchanter since the first is already dead.. So at the end of this round 1, the tank is still with no minions dead but the FB character ONLY has 2 instead of 3 dead. Next round the tank finishes off the FB caster, but the FB caster still attacks and lets say it is enough to kill all 3 of the tanks minions----DRAW.

See how it matters.

Thanks Ranger. That's very clear. It's been bugging me for a while. I'd see a winning defending battle on my battle list and attack them and...lose! Most of the enemies this has happened with have GA or AMF. It did occur to me that if I was attacking first I may take more damage due to those spells, therefore lose.

Anyhow, not vital to my continuing existence but nice to have it clear in my head.

Thanks!
