Odd month, not much uproar this time? (in General)

Arorrr August 22 2005 12:40 PM EDT

Change month is ariving like over a week and there is not much uproar like the last change month. Only change request is the NUB and it does have that much of attention.

A definate change from the last few changing months. Is it because this game is already "perfect"??

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] August 22 2005 1:06 PM EDT

I still think we need some AC oriented hand gear. Having the biggest pair (or one of them) of TG's on my wall just kills me.

LumpBot August 22 2005 1:08 PM EDT

Most people are satisfied with the changes made, a ton of FB threads have been made though, perhaps a change there?

QBRanger August 22 2005 1:11 PM EDT

Most of us gave up on trying to change the NW/PR and NUB things. As you can or cannot see by the selling out threads, a few have given up on cb2.

WeaponX August 22 2005 1:12 PM EDT

imo the game needs new weapons and the inclusion of the 2 handed penalty of the ToA other than that i think the game is much improved over a few months ago.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 22 2005 1:36 PM EDT

*Shrugs*

Over 51% don't think there's needs to be a change to FB. Show why should I make another thread about it when it wasn't changed last change month.

Rubberduck with BCS has over 1 Million FB, so has the potential to hit around 500K on a single target, with a 1 million AMF needed to reduce his DD by 50%.

But maybe people will have to wait till RD gets a 2 million FB and hits for a mil, or Bones get's a 1 Million CoC and hits for a mil before people go "hey... Actually something might be wrong here...."

*Shrugs*

AdminQBVerifex August 22 2005 1:47 PM EDT

We need a change month that is not simply tweaking the game. Even though NW/PR was a huge change, it still was just mainly a behind the scenes tweak that changed our strategies. In order to get all those CB1 people over here, we need some NEW playability.

Like for instance, clans were a new avenue of play. In many ways, tattoos were a new avenue of play, but to many, it was a vastly different KIND of play, and thus another 'tweak'. Tattoos DID change what we did (clan fight, forge, camp) for a while when they were first around, we would actually make an effort to loan out our tattoos to each other, make contact to each other to make our own tattoos better. With subsequent changes, that was made irrelevant.

I would love a change that merged econ and regular clans together, and simply allowed clan leaders the freedom to actually DO something other then admit and kick members. That would, and COULD fundamentally change the dynamics of the game, thus making it more fun.

Tweaks are great for making this game balanced and fair, but as with software, there is only so much you can tweak before you simply have to introduce NEW features to keep it fresh. CB is popular, and I think to keep relevant and popular, we need new features. Preferably something to get our famous community involved.

Do you remember the last time we had a cohesive idea who was even IN our community? We barely have good contests anymore, since the idea of making a contest that benefits the maker was ruled as unfair (due to a few bad apples trying to scam), really good contests don't come along too often now, simply because there isn't always a compelling reason to do so.

Sorry for the rant, but I miss how awesome the CB community was before the two pronged SCHISM of "clans" and the transition between CB1/CB2 that has riddled down our community into obscurity.

QBJohnnywas August 22 2005 1:50 PM EDT

The past couple of months have been quite stable in terms of change, especially in comparison to the first 5 months. But there have been a few people selling out of late - so maybe the game needs to get 'interesting' again. However, it looks to me like there are more players in this to have some 'fun'. Check out the amount of contest postings recently in comparison to strategy postings - so maybe people aren't taking things quite as seriously at the moment?

I'm personally scared for changemonth - I'm away for the first three weeks of September - will I recognise the game when I get back lol?

TrueDevil [AAA] August 22 2005 2:23 PM EDT

The NUB isn't THAT threatening anymore now that there's tattoo cap, PR/NW, very high BA cost, etc.
I thought that DM is still overpowered, and there's still no changes about it.

I don't understand why GL still saying that FB, or other dd spell need to be changed when there's an obvious fact/proof of huge dd spells still can't get into the top 5 scores. Maybe it's powerful in the beginning, but NW still dominates in the end.

I've been saying this too many times, FB + DM = overpowered, FB alone = just normal. Which one is the problem here ? Obviously, it's DM which can kill all the defensive enchanments. There should be a DM penalty if the opposing minions have more than 1 defensive enchanment.

A nice example would be me against grasshopper, I should be losing if there was a DM penalty (it's quite obvious too since he has much more MPR), but instead I draw and sometimes won against him.

I think something needs to be done to shake things up. We're getting to know how this CB2 now plays, I hope Jon throws something into the works next month.

:)

Barron [CB2BANK Investors Club] August 22 2005 2:31 PM EDT

1. I have a pretty big character on CB1 and I occasionally look at it. But, maybe it's time for Jon to put CB1 to rest and allow a convergence of all cb players.

2. Tournaments help to make the game interesting and competative for those that are not at the top.

3. Let's face it...the weapons are boring and most of them are useless.

4. I'd like to see a dex and strenght requirement added to some armor and weapons. This will even the playing field a little and create incentive to use those items.

5. The clan system certainly could use some improvement, but I don't have any suggestions right now.

AdminQBVerifex August 22 2005 2:36 PM EDT

You guys really need to learn to think "outside" the box. Unless you just want another month of "tweaking".

Undertow August 22 2005 2:36 PM EDT

tourneys would be difficult to implement in CB2, for at least 2 reasons that I can think of.

1. NUB
2. Tattoos.

Barron [CB2BANK Investors Club] August 22 2005 2:49 PM EDT

Just make tourneys where Tattoos are not allowed. The NUB can be nullified for tourney characters that are created as tourney characters.

Thought this was worth repeating. :O)

[EG] Almuric August 22 2005 3:02 PM EDT

"...the weapons are boring and most of them are useless. "

You don't know what you're talking about. Why, almost all of them are useful:

Glaive: Great for marshmallow roasting. (If you've got a big fire, it's hard to get close without roasting yourself.)
Scythe: I guess you haven't been around a farm at harvest time.
Daggers: Slicing cheese; peeling apples; splinter removal
Whips: Flogging; Driving a team of horses; Apple picking; Cigarette putter-outer
Mace: For when you're jogging alone at night
Lucerne Hammer: Great ornamental piece; Cauldron stirring
Lochaber Axe: Good for getting those far-way items at the dinner table.

Overall, I must say, you're overlooking many of the less obvious uses of many of our fine weapons. It's a travesty, really.

QBJohnnywas August 22 2005 3:05 PM EDT

LOL Almuric - Carnage Apple Peeling - now theres's a game I'd pay good money to play!

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 22 2005 3:32 PM EDT

I'm upset Almuric. Still no use for a Tulwar? :'(

maulaxe August 22 2005 3:37 PM EDT

what ARE those things, anyways?

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] August 22 2005 3:59 PM EDT

To go off on a couple of Barron's points...

1: Pah. Hosh-posh ;-)

5: I had an idea on an addition that I think would make clans more fun to participate in (got the idea from another game I play)

Ok, when you fight you get rewards, your clan takes a certain % "tax" of those rewards and adds them into a clan funds type thing. This money can only be used for 2 things, which will be explained later.

Now that clans have money, other clans can declare war on each other, when war is declared, 50% of each clans money goes into the pot for the winner, winner takes all, obviously. Points would be earned similarly to how they are now, except you would not earn Points from attacking a character with X% of your power.

The money clans have would be used for two things...they are:

1) Buying clan "techs" IE: New forms of wars (First to ___ points, "Confident attack: The defender will throw in twice the usual resources in the pot, while your clan will throw in four times as much." and so on). Or techs such as changing the tax rate, and forming "alliances" with other clans. Along with having a cost to buying techs, you would have to wait X amount of time for the "research" of the tech would complete.

2) It is possible that there would be a "clans only" auction house, where techs such as research speeding devices, research sabotage (would delay research of enemy clans).

Feel free to flame! ;-P

*note* I take no credit in inventing this idea, I simply found it on another game I happen to play ;-)

QBOddBird August 22 2005 4:14 PM EDT

I think weapon upgrades should increase the damage by more - currently, Mages have an enormous advantage in that area. Since the theory here is that NW is what gives the fighters an advantage, shouldn't they get a bit more punch for their buck? Just my suggestion, I'm sure it'll get thrown down to the chopping block, but nonetheless, it is how I feel.

Sukotto [lookingglas] August 22 2005 4:37 PM EDT

A Tulwar is a curved, light calvary sabre of Indian origin. A distinctive feature of which is the disk-shaped pommel which gave added protection to the hand.

interestingly enough, i dont think tat CB is perfect... I mean it rocks, but in my opinion, its starting to lose its flash... i remember when getting a membership just for the ToJ was the best spent money of my day... Im starting to believe that other players have come to the realization that, nothing new is happening to CB... nothing to intice new players to stay... i mean we have characters in the game who have exceeded all others ,stat wise, who are probably getting bored with being untouchable... at least thats how i would feel...
i myself am starting to get pretty strong, not as strong as a lot of you, but i am starting to lose interest... all thats left for me is to get a hold of some more elven equipment, and my game would be set... and that leavs nothing left to fight for...
so its no wonder this change month is dragging, i know that im not the only one with these thing in mind...

AdminQBVerifex August 22 2005 7:12 PM EDT

We should probably be brainstorming new ideas, and hope that Jon takes us up on one of them. Something that doesn't necessarily involve "new weapons", "new armor" or "changing a stat for the umpteenth-million time". Remember, Jon had a kid months ago, and he has to take care of it, so he can't spend all his waking hours here. Lets do him a favor and come up with some honest-to-goodness out-of-the-box ideas that will give CB that spark that keeps it going for many years. I know you all can do it, considering the creativity and hard work I've seen from you guys in the past.

I just hope that not all the hardcore smart people have left. :(

Nixon Jibfest August 22 2005 7:15 PM EDT

I'm hoping jon will create full armor packages (elven, mithril, etc) that will give you an additional bonus if you have the complete package. I recall Jon saying that wouldn't be a bad idea on a previous thread.

Undertow August 22 2005 7:19 PM EDT

I think that would rock, kind of like sets on Diablo 2.

Arorrr August 22 2005 8:05 PM EDT

Or if he can make that you can fight vs NPC, to deviate from the normal PvP only. Make that you don't win CB at all, only exp reward (hint: spent $ on healing, which requires you to fight PvP at some time).
