Dilemma with Monty's Debt to me... (in Public Record)

Relic August 22 2005 9:31 PM EDT

I am torn with my situation with Monty.

He incurred a debt of over 5 million to me back in June, I think on the 17th or so. He made small token payments early on but has not made a payment for almost 3 weeks

I think I have been more than forebearing with his debt.

I really do not want to ask for a reset because that does us both no good. So, I ask what I should or can do other than that? At the time I entered into my deal with Monty he said he would have it completely paid off in 6 weeks or less.

When he is selling his cb2 to get more cb1, I think that is a travesty, and quite frankly dishonest.

Any constructive thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome. Please do not tell me that it was a bad decision to trust him in the first place because I never played cb1 and did not know of his debt vs. income ratio problems.

i don't know how constructive this is but it is a suggestion just ask for the reset, in all likely hood you are not going to get a fraction of your money back and its just going to be a long drawn out struggle with him to get him to make payments, and from past action he will most likely be taking out other loans as well in till someone finally desides to suffer no more and get him reset, so maybe just nip it in the bud and do it now.

Other than a reset there are just a few things I can think of:

1) Beg Monty to please pay up
2) Hope and pray Monty pays you anything
3) Get someone to assume the debt from him. Sort of like a Bank selling a mortgage.
4) I frankly cannot think of nothing else. Its a problem that rarely occurs in cb. Someone who openly default on loans.

If he were selling CB2 to pay someone off in CB1 I could understand it - he might have a debt older than yours. But I think he was reset over in CB1 so I guess his slate is clean, i.e., he can't claim that he is trying to pay someone off over there.

In addition, as of yesterday he was still bidding on gear over in CB1. I think it is unlikely that you will see much if any of your money and I think Monty should be BANNED, not just reset.

I am sorry for your loss.

If there is not a set deadline on the debt, you can't ask for a reset. IF there isn't a set amount due each week, a reset is still not an option. This was a problem over on CB1 as well, until someone who did have a minimum payment requirement decided to complain.

"At the time I entered into my deal with Monty he said he would have it completely paid off in 6 weeks or less."

I don't know about you guys but I hear of not a lot else then Monty and his lack of ability to pay off money he owes. Banning would be too stricked I fear but take away his chat and forum abilities might be more fair, that way he can't get another loan very easily and he can only concentrate on fighting.

I should have said "if a deadline is not posted in a thread".. you can't ask for a reset.

NSFY August 22 2005 10:43 PM EDT

He's a con-man, err, boy. BAN HIM!

My guess is that Monty is hoping for a reset.

QBRanger August 22 2005 10:55 PM EDT

PSB is likely right.

If you look at his characters, he has but one TOA on them with some seeker bolts/arrows. He also has a cash balance of less then 100k.

He knows from cb1 that a reset wipes all his debts away.

I agree with PSB, he is hoping for a reset and a clean slate to start all over again.

So, if he is reset, how does that help the person who was defrauded? It seems like it only helps Monty, because there is no repercussions to his behavior. I am damned if I do, and damned if I don't it seems.
