Possible Bug.... (in General)

Derek August 23 2005 11:38 PM EDT

Ok I recently changed my strat slightly - I unlearned and retrained a good portion of my XP. I expected my MPR to fall by a couple of thousand but to my surprise it jumped about 20k.

I had no untrained XP on any of my minions before I did this. The only explanation I can think of is that I am using an ROE and the extra XP given by it was not showing up in my MPR/PR.

QBRanger August 23 2005 11:45 PM EDT

Did you have any untrained xp on your character when you started this untraining and retraining?

Remember MPR is only trained xp, untrained xp just sits there not contributing to MPR. It however is counted when rewards are being figured.

"I had no untrained XP on any of my minions before I did this."

Nope :P

If you went from having a lot xp trained in a few areas to having less xp trained in more areas then it may be that MPR is calculated not by xp trained but by the levels of the spells trained

For example if you train 100xp into one spell/stat you will get you get a level of x, if you train the same 100xp into two spells/stats each will have a level of y for a total of 2y.

now while it is obvious that x>y, it is also true that 2y>x (because of the increasing costs of each level)

So if (and this I am not sure of but it could be figured out rather easily) MPR is calculated by the level of the spells and not the actual xp spent on those levels then it could be possible to increase pr by splitting the xp from the untrain into more areas than they were in before the untrain.

If someone wants to see if this is true find me in chat and we will test it out.

Well, mine dropped 55 k just from retraining GA to AS. I thought it's some kind of RoE bug too, but I just can't figured what happened.

Warchild August 24 2005 4:50 AM EDT

Dropping is normal Devilord.

When you untrain you only get a % of the xp back that you put into it initially, so you have less xp to train and thus (at least when untraining one-for-one) your MPR does go down. The question that Derek is asking is why his MPR went UP.

TrueDevil [AAA] August 24 2005 5:51 AM EDT

hmm, I had around 277 k mpr, untrained GA, and retrain it to AS. Then, my MPR became 220 k+, that's normal ? I just thought it might have some connection with Derek's MPR jump. I made a thread about it like a week ago, but no one seems to know what's the problem.

Derek August 24 2005 9:04 AM EDT

My untrain/retrain was pretty much a straight swap of spells on my minion that previously had the ROE equipped so I don't think it's to do with splitting my XP amongst more spells. The PR jump was slightly more than 20k - you can see it on my history graph, although it doesn't show up that well.

Derek August 24 2005 10:00 PM EDT

Ok I decided to look into this further so I learned a base fireball on my minion wearing the RoE and then unlearned it to see what happened to my PR

Original PR: 174,183
PR after learning base fireball: 174,182 (yes it went down 1)
PR after unlearning fireball: 177,517

So I'm fairly certain that this has something to do with the extra XP given by the RoE not showing up under MPR/PR until a retrain is done. Can anyone else wearing an RoE confirm this?

AdminJonathan August 25 2005 12:09 AM EDT

You are correct, Derek.

Fixed: RoE xp will now correctly be reflected in MPR.

Grim Reaper August 25 2005 1:02 AM EDT

does this mean someone could of exploited this and ended up being at the top the fast way?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] August 25 2005 1:04 AM EDT

Technically, no, because it would not have helped the person in any way. Except get a higher PR than anyone else, but without haelping stats, why would it be good?

Derek August 28 2005 12:28 AM EDT

Ok I've just learned/unlearned a base FB and my MPR still increased by a significant amount - I'm still not sure this is fixed completely..

I also just did a *minor* retrain and my mpr jumped by about 10 to 15K. Like Derek, I had NO unallocated XP.

I also notice that the first battle after training (in this case, I mean the routine allocation of XP) does not show any RoE rewards. It is only in the second and subsequent battles that the RoE minion gets a bonus.
This is not a biggie, just an indication that something is amiss.
