Is the auctioneer spawning rares faster than the store? (in General)

Quark September 7 2005 12:27 PM EDT

Looking at the auctioneer's auctions vs. the old rares store log, I'm thinking the spawn rate is really high - there's a dozen non-ammo rares auctioning. Does anyone else think this rate is high or is it similar to the old store spawn rate?

And did we just not see it before because campers held on to most of their wins to put them in auction or wait for price increases? Methinks that it's a nice side benefit to open up the rares for everyone to see the outgoing volume.

it has always been this rate.

i think your right, i use to always look at the store purchas log to see who got what, usually not much there. maybe 1-3 a day.

I agree that they are spawning more frequently. This can only bring down the value of base (or close to) rares. This in turn should lower the value slightly of the higher end rares. I for one am happy to see the day when I have a shot at winning a corn or pair of DBs out of an auction.

I had one thought, however. I'm not sure if there is a set time that certain rares will be in auction, but what do you think of having a random auction time? For example, a CORN could spawn from the auctioneer, but the auction may end in one day, or it may end in 2 hours. I think that that would add a little bit more excitement to the process.

roughly the spawns for the store ranged a spawn every 4-12 mins depending on the battles faught the day prior, with each spawn the possibilitys varied on if a rare would pop or not, not in a 2 day period, 12 rares isnt that big of a deal considering that in 48 hours ish, 2880mins
this would avg, as a long shot of near 200 spawns throughout the day, and we could saay 1 outta 40 spawns is a rare with two stores the possibilitys of grabbing say 40 rares in a day are there, just not probable

Relic September 7 2005 12:39 PM EDT

There was always a ton of rare ammo that spawned but most of the time I checked to box in the search view to exclude the rare ammo. It looks to be about the same rate as before. However I think we are going to see a drop in prices for all items because of this change. You will no longer be able to sell through FS/WTB for base or near base items when the potential buyer could just wait for an auction spawn.

Starseed^Lure September 7 2005 1:19 PM EDT

If it truly is spawning more items, perhaps it is because we are fighting more and visiting the store less. After all, isn't item spawn rate based on how many fights there are per day?

chappy [Soup Ream] September 7 2005 1:33 PM EDT

Another thought ... would it be beneficial for us to have a clickable link / search criteria for all auctions by the auctioneer? Also ... it would be interesting if some / all of the auctioneer auctions had a Buy Now, but the BIN was somehow set higher than the current average for the item (if that makes sense) .. what do you think?

There is also no merchant layer holding items to ensure price stability...
Socialism Blender!

If the community is wise, it can let the prices drop and have more rares available for everyone...

Also that spawn rate is affected by amounts of fighting done, so more fighting = more rares spawning.

Relic September 7 2005 1:48 PM EDT

" If the community is wise, it can let the prices drop and have more rares available for everyone... "

I completely disagree, because if everyone has rares then no one does. Things are only "rare" if only a few have them. :)

Just like in the movie "The Incredibles": (Paraphrase)
"Then everyone will be super, which is just another way of saying no one is."

AdminShade September 7 2005 1:52 PM EDT

It was indeed something short of a Utopia because the community is never wise enough.

People will always bid millions and millions of cb money for a rare weapon or piece of armor, so low prices for great items is something pretty impossible.

Also there will always be players trying to get some of these items and keep them for themselves making the rares not becoming uncommon or common.

Chappy you can bookmark This link and open it in different window to keep up to date with the auctioneers comings and going. Just click the "show all" link to see what has ended and what's still open.

why not then bookmark this link?

/me wonders where all the lesser tat spawns are? Could this mean something are just an oversight perhaps?

Can i ask where this money go.The money from auction(auctioneer).I think the money is off the market and go to Jon account.Do the reward will go up or all this money is to pay NUB.

???

Special J September 7 2005 6:36 PM EDT

The money is removed from the game, which is a good thing considering we are still in a surplus from the removal of a couple of items.

Rewards do not need to go up, the money is removed one way or another, I am sure once the funds circulating get low enough another change will be made.

Jordan23 September 7 2005 6:53 PM EDT

With less money, all the price for rare will go down.Lack of liquidity in the market.I know it about the same, less money, low price, same power of buying stuff. But the only thing is that take less time for newbie to purchase stuff. NUB: more money+more xp+Cheap rares=Unbalance.

Special J September 7 2005 7:02 PM EDT

"The money is removed from the game, which is a good thing considering we are still in a surplus from the removal of a couple of items. "

The Nub has nothing to do with anything, people need to pretend the nub does not even exist, and stop trying to mold the game around the nub.

That or understand the meaning behind the NUB, which many people seem to lack.
