thanks for summarising my work :)

[T]Vestax September 14 2005 11:23 AM EDT

No problem. :)

NSFY September 14 2005 11:27 AM EDT

How are you defining "Unwasted"? Are these votes for the winning items or just any vote.

My votes or lack thereof are always a statement.

AdminShade September 14 2005 11:28 AM EDT

Unwasted votes are votes that actually spawned an item.

[T]Vestax September 14 2005 11:34 AM EDT

It is understood that it may take votes to get people to go for a particular item, and that even though the item does spawn as a result the vote does expire.

However, that is a very passive approach to getting an item spawned. It would simply be more efficient to rally everyone to vote for an item beforehand as Shade has often done in the past. I'm sure there was little need to have people make "starter votes" for items that would eventually spawn last May when we had our best outcome.

[T]Vestax September 14 2005 11:37 AM EDT

Wow, I sound very unclear. I mean that last May we had little need for starter votes or that there were fewer starter votes that expired.

Sukotto [lookingglas] September 14 2005 4:30 PM EDT

You'd be better off calling them "successful", "winning", or "useful" votes.

Special J September 14 2005 4:36 PM EDT

Morgul-Hammer 11 150 92.7%
Blacksword of Nan Elmoth 4 150 97.3%
Blade of Thuringwethil 5 150 96.7%
Elven Long Sword 1 150 99.3%
Executioner's Sword 0 29 100.0%
Katana 1 17 94.1%
Elven Long Bow 3 146 97.9%
Enforcer's Crossbow 2 146 98.6%

ALL wasted votes. It is fairly normal too, people take the stance that if it does not better their character then they refuse to vote to help someone else.

But that is mostly do to the fact that most players are children.

AdminJonathan September 14 2005 4:42 PM EDT

most? hmm

many, certainly, but I wonder if under-18 really comprises a majority of players (as opposed to merely a plurality)

/just picking nits, don't mind me

Relic September 14 2005 4:48 PM EDT

"Don't pick your nits with me, or you won't have any nits to pick with, know what I mean?"

Name the movie! :P

WeaponX September 14 2005 4:49 PM EDT

most people see the BM as unneeded after the camping abolishment

NSFY September 14 2005 4:51 PM EDT

Hmmm...If only there was a way to force people to vote for the designated item. Maybe we could start fining people who didn't get with the program. Or at least scold them in chat - I mean we can see who votes for what after all - let's put them out there in public so people know who is not being a team player. Maybe publish a list of nasty selfish non-team-players each week in the community section.

VOTE STEEL BRIG!

InebriatedArsonist September 14 2005 4:52 PM EDT

That sounds a lot like Ernest, Glory.

[T]Vestax September 14 2005 5:16 PM EDT

Not exactly what I had in mind NSFY. Nobody should have the objective of scolding or intimidating anyone. I just feel there is a way to make people more conscienceless about how they vote is all. If people simply see that it's possible to get so much more out of the Black Market then what we are now, then maybe they would simply organize themselves. Striving for 100% efficiency in the BM is nonsense.

My comment to MegamanV, please don't take my democracy away.

[T]Vestax September 14 2005 5:17 PM EDT

*conscientious
