MgS (in General)

QBOddBird September 20 2005 9:06 AM EDT

It does not grant AC. Instead, it protects against Direct Damage Spells based on the + added to the item. It absorbs up to 2.2k points of damage per enchantment level, with a minimum absorption of 1% per enchantment level. This reduction is capped at 50% of the damage dealt

Including Decay? Just want to make sure. I'm considering my strategy for when I convert my mage, and I'd like to know if this DD reduction includes Decay. Thanks!

It absorbs up to 2.2k points of damage per enchantment level, with a minimum absorption of 1% per enchantment level. <~~~ I'm assuming this means the max DD spell damage it can absorb is 110K?

I don't think it does anything to Decay. But someone would have to check one of the old changelogs to make sure.

No one's got a MgS to 51% to see if it stops 50% or 51% yet! ;)

AdminShade September 20 2005 9:29 AM EDT

This reduction is capped at 50% of the damage dealt

so if you would get 1 million damage it would maximum block 500,000...

AdminShade September 20 2005 9:31 AM EDT

a +25 would block either 25*2200 = 55000 points of damage OR 25% of the damage if the damage dealt was higher than 220,000

Isn't that 2200 figure obsoleted by the armor change part 4 post?

AdminShade September 20 2005 9:37 AM EDT

perhaps it is indeed :)

a MgS +N now absorbs a minimum of N% of dmg done; MgS now easier to upgrade

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 20 2005 9:39 AM EDT

It's ambiguous.

It doesn't state wither this is in addition too or has replaced the fixed bonus.

a MgS +N now absorbs a minimum of N% of dmg done; MgS now easier to upgrade

Looks like pretty in place of to me.

Will [Retired] September 20 2005 9:41 AM EDT

Id say that all the previous things about the MgS are now void with that change. If it is easier to upgrade, then perhaps there isn't the 50% limit anymore. If the limit were still in place then something would have been said.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 20 2005 9:55 AM EDT

Then why the wording;

"a MgS +N now absorbs a minimum of N% of dmg done"

"a minimum"

If it didn't also have the direct reduction per point, shouldn't it be

"A MgS +N now absorbs n% of dmg done"?

QBOddBird September 20 2005 11:34 AM EDT

In this case, shouldn't the wiki be changed to reflect that it doesn't cap off at 2.2k points of DD per +?

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] September 20 2005 12:06 PM EDT

First off it was never capped at 2.2k per point, it calculated whether the % or the + multiplied by 2.2k was higher, the only cap was that it could not absorb more than 50%.

QBOddBird September 21 2005 12:53 AM EDT

It absorbs up to 2.2k points of damage per enchantment level that would be a damage cap.
