What would you do different (in General)

Mr Bones September 20 2005 12:48 PM EDT

I am curious to see what your next move would be?

I have 31 Mill in CB cash and no idea what my next move should be.

Would you invest in your Character or start up a Loans business.

What great ideas have you got?

Biscuitback September 20 2005 12:50 PM EDT

i would invest it somehow, but i dunno about the loans business... to many people get burned and alot of headache.
maybe a rental business or something.

Tezmac September 20 2005 12:51 PM EDT

Sell for USD. 13M is about $460.
Real Money>>Fake Money

QBJohnnywas September 20 2005 12:57 PM EDT

Depends on whether or not you want to benefit from it yourself. I don't personally like the idea of selling for USD - although I suspect my wife would like me to make some cash from this game! - so I'd be looking at investing in my char or setting up a series of competitions with large prizes - either cash or items - and bring some fun to CB Land.

Did you get any satisfaction from the Loans Business before? If it's what you enjoy then stick with it.

LumpBot September 20 2005 12:59 PM EDT

I would recomend keeping a loan business going, perhaps join an awesome clan like...CB Services.

On a more serious note, keeping the cash as cash is a good idea right now. Cash will gain in value steadily...well at least until next change month.

Relic September 20 2005 12:59 PM EDT

Become a rares shop. Buy and sell rares and see if you can buy low and sell high. :)

Mr Bones September 20 2005 1:01 PM EDT

The Loans were ok but Cylo as not logged on for a while and he owes me 6 mill which will be great if I get it but not looking good at the moment.
So I keep away from loans for the time.

Selling for usd does not appeal to me yet.

QBOddBird September 20 2005 1:03 PM EDT

I'd loan it, but set a loan cap of a mil a person. If they need more than that, they can get multiple loans. I'd probably invest a good 20 mil in loans, a mil set aside for forging (because I like to), and 10 to use as I see fit (when something comes up in auctions that is vital to your strategy, to insta tats as you grow, to increase AC because you are getting the flippachoppas beat out of you in battles, to increase your weapon so you can beat the flippachoppas out of someone else, et cetera).

And, to be perfectly honest, I'd probably consider selling some for USD, because I'm a poor college student and USD comes in very handy at this point in my life.

Another idea that I suppose I'll go ahead and put out in the open. I'll do it eventually anyways, so I might as well make it something others can see. Since you are equipped to do this already, you might consider doing it as well.

Opening the insta-insta store. I.E. someone wants to get their Adam up to +40, they might consider blacksmithing it or they might consider insta-ing up to another (usually at around 80% or so, correct me if I'm wrong), or they would hire a forger. The store would be me offering items at about the numbers I would think they would want to insta to (for example, a +20 Adam, a +40 adam, a + 60 adam). These would be offered at 100% -90% insta rates, because it is quicker than a blacksmith or a forger. They simply say, i want a +40 adam for my +oh, say, 36 one, and I insta it to them immediately. No wait, no hassle, no waiting 20 minutes to get your adam back while everyone beats the crackers out of you, and no waiting a week for a forger to get it for you for cheaper. This would be Blacksmith price, but at instant speed. You'd spend your BA forging, and you'd end up making 80% profit. As you got enough money, you could spread out to other items, offering MCM, MC, and Adam. (replace armors with weapons, bows, headgear, whatever.) Anyways, its something I had considered doing, if I ever had the time to. That's my brilliant scheme, go ahead with it anyone =)

Or you could just hold an enormous contest and make the pot 31 million and watch the entire CB community enter and put forth an ENORMOUS amount of effort to win that money. That'd honestly be a contest with the most effort, participation, etc. ever... but I somehow think that's not exactly the option to choose ;)

Have fun with your money, Mr Bones! I know I would if I were you!

(you could always BS the crackers out of a CoI and mage armor and put it on that CoC guy of yours.)

QBRanger September 20 2005 1:33 PM EDT

IMO, I play the game to invest in my character, to make it as tough as possible. You can get a set of DB's and a corn, upgrade them a bit and be a lot tougher. YOu can hire another minion.

Or you can go single tank and invest in weapons/armor.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 20 2005 1:48 PM EDT

Or get the biggest pair of DBs and prove whether a mage can make it at the top! ;)

LumpBot September 20 2005 1:49 PM EDT

You could very well get those DBs above +125 ;)

QBBarzooMonkey September 20 2005 1:51 PM EDT

If I had 31 mil at my disposal, I would do d) All of the above :)

I'd invest a few million in my character, set a few mil aside for emergency & ammo, use a few mil to start a rare/insta store type business, and give a few mil away in contests just because it's fun (at least to me, it is).

Myonax September 20 2005 2:02 PM EDT

I had 10 million and dropped it all into a pair of DBs. They aren't so helpfull so far. Wishing I would have just sold it.

Relic September 20 2005 2:06 PM EDT

I love my huge DB's, my tank is quite hard to nail down. He is evasive.

QBRanger September 20 2005 2:13 PM EDT

I have a set of +112 DB's on my 20 Dex wall. It stops 1 hit each round from other tanks. Normally they would do either 3 or 4 hits a round, but with them on I get hit 2 or 3 times.

{CB3}-HR22 September 20 2005 2:19 PM EDT

I would Hire another minion, and buy a huge AC set for it.
With 31 Mil i could have the largest set in CB!!

Special J September 20 2005 2:20 PM EDT

Love my DBs too, they are only 70 and named, don't plan on taking them higher right now.

Relic September 20 2005 2:22 PM EDT

For something completely different, you could pick a bunch of friends or players you respect and give them each a few mil just for the heck of it. :)

You could buy all the BIN auctions and continue to do so until you have exhausted your funds. Also, another out of the box idea... :)

Synco September 20 2005 2:59 PM EDT

If I had 31 mil, I'd buy a heavy set and upgrade them as high as possible.

Mr Bones September 21 2005 5:18 AM EDT

Thanks this as been interesting reading

Please feel free to add your ideas

Will [Retired] September 21 2005 5:23 AM EDT

ask yourself the question, do I want to make more money, or spend it?

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] September 21 2005 5:27 AM EDT

Time to redirect all that money to the loan business, apparently. I've gotten 4 requests for loans in the last 3 days -- which is highly unusual. Not that I mind. :)

Mr Bones September 21 2005 5:36 AM EDT

I will leave the loaning of money to others, except in the rare case where I really trust the person asking.

But I am getting a better picture of which way I will be playing.

Thanks

sell for USD, and then be the central money changer for supportership :P So, whenever someone wants to name a weap or get supportership, they get USD from you and you recycle the CB2 back to USD.

- Benefits people without Paypal
- You might get lucky and earn more than investment if the value of CB2 against USD actually goes up as speculated by many
- At least you monopolize the supportership conversion area :P
- You don't actually earn the USD from here, but when the time comes when you really need USD, you won't be too panic
- Something to kill your time

CoolWater September 21 2005 6:10 AM EDT

...or you can send all the money to central bank or me (I would know what to do with it).:)

...but seriously, probably convert to USD and donate the money.

v3n0m September 21 2005 10:47 AM EDT

I like the idea of Nonsensical Knight (though I don't have a paypal and not going to have one), YOU could be the item namer no.1 or supportership buyer.

at a reasonable rate I think you could make a whole bunch of people happy.

Grant September 21 2005 11:20 AM EDT

No one else has mentioned this, but EGs are better than LGs for mages. :)
