Now that DD has been rightfully toned down (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 23 2005 4:42 AM EDT

Please tone down BL. It's far too powerful in it's current form. x2 damage for very little xp. With no drawback.

Very large weapons do enough damage, especially with the ability to hit multiple times. Giving a flat x2 damage is obscene.

QBJohnnywas September 23 2005 4:45 AM EDT

I'd go as far as suggesting that you shouldn't be able to use BL and VA at the same time - Because it doesn't matter if you take more damage when BL is around if the VA then keeps you alive...

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 23 2005 4:50 AM EDT

Especially when VA works with the multiplied damage...

AdminShade September 23 2005 5:10 AM EDT

Last month was Mage Blender, this month is Tank Blender :P

CoolWater September 23 2005 5:20 AM EDT

one thing affects another. if you tone down BL, what's next? Eventually everything will be toned down.

QBJohnnywas September 23 2005 5:23 AM EDT

That's a good but obvious point Coolwater. Tone down everything and we're back at square one just weaker...

trigun September 23 2005 5:25 AM EDT

why was MM more toned down that CoC? i thought people were whining because it was weak compared to other DD spells? hehe ^_^

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 23 2005 5:26 AM EDT

There's a difference between toned down something over powered (even if it's not reducing the bonus damage, but giving BL a weakness) and reduceing something to uselessness...

bartjan September 23 2005 5:33 AM EDT

Question is, is DD toned down a lot, or just a little. From Stats->Items->Normal I see that those new gloves easily reach +10, which means CoC for example only got reduced by ~5%. BL just got a 17% nerf.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 23 2005 6:20 AM EDT

Bart, does a 10% increase in CoC level equally offset a 10% penalty in CoC damage?

Where does the 17% BL nerf come from?

bartjan September 23 2005 6:24 AM EDT

1.0/1.2=0.8333 (in other words, a 16.7% reduction).

0.86*1.10=0.946 (in other words, a 5.4% reduction).

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 23 2005 6:31 AM EDT

Ah. That BL change. But also note, BL lost it's weakness in that change.

For CoC +14 AG doesn't equal the loss of 14% damage. But +10 AG does result in about a 5% decrease in damage overall.

But not everyone is going to have one of these gloves... ;)

I was also questioning BL s new status before the DD change. It's just more apparent now.

Grim Reaper September 23 2005 6:42 AM EDT

overall against regular tanks, coc is a lot better, but against big tanks:AKA Krang and Apocalypse, I need to get my tattoo leveled a bit more to be fair against them :)

That 14% dmg reduction to coc for me ended up causing my coc damage to go like 30% lower.

I am not sure now about what % of tattoo now is my max damage, I used to be able to get as high as 96% of tattoo level as being the damage, I will have to do a test again to see.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 23 2005 6:46 AM EDT

If I stick with 75% from my small testing, CoC would now be around 64.5% of it's level.

Grim Reaper September 23 2005 6:49 AM EDT

Soldier's familiar's Cone of cold hit Tojinyan [471698]

471698/580340 =.812793

last time I had it go upto 96% so this does look like it is 14% dmg reduction and on familiar it is direct.

So it used to be like 95% of tattoo level as the max dmg, now it is 81%

Lumpy Koala September 23 2005 6:51 AM EDT

10% more XP from the bloody glove does not bring the effect of 10% damage increase back to any DD. That's what GL is arguing about. And it's true.

Grim Reaper September 23 2005 7:43 AM EDT

I'm just stating what is going on with tattoo to figure out the max damage it can do.

So that is why I posted before and after % of tattoo level as a way to determine max dmg. It seems a bit accurate.

And yes, 10% from a glove will not give 10% more damage, it just increases dd by 10%

My CoC mage takes a little hit, but the new item brings me one step closer to my dream of a heavily armored mage (MC, CML, MS, CoI, New Glove, Cab)

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] September 23 2005 9:08 AM EDT

Certainly I would agree that either BL should be nerfed or archery boosted, they don't seem to compare very well right now.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 23 2005 9:48 AM EDT

I'd rather not see archery boosted. Anything that goes fist in a turn based system should not be equal to or more powerful than that which comes after.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] September 23 2005 11:15 AM EDT

wasn't BL already nerfed?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] September 23 2005 11:16 AM EDT

cuz my MPB was 180k, now i cant get it any higher than 100k....

QBOddBird September 23 2005 11:20 AM EDT

Yes, it was nerfed from 120% max down to 100% max, with the increased damage penalty removed.
