A little math for wasting time.. (in General)

Ok here are a few numbers and i cant seem to figure out for sure how they are calculated.

I have a small AS (level: 33.626) effectively giving my 4 minions and my familiar each 11.364 hitpoints (when they are not eaten by DM of course) ..
I ran upon an opponent that cast an equally small DM (he cast for 9.276, i dont know the level of the spell)
After the DM had been cast on me, my AS gave me 8.232 hitpoints to my minions and my familiar.
The question that i have now is: if i have a DM at level X, how many hitpoints (and/or levels) of AS can i then remove? and is there a difference in effictiveness of DM (compared to AS) if i fight opponents with fewer minions?

Oh yeah. My AS is thus: Ablative Shield: 33,626 (16,150) but i recon the effectivity is set back by having 4 minions and a familiar since the actual spell (only) gives the 11.364.

DM casts at 0.8 of the level, so his DM level was 9,276/0.8=11,595.

DM works on the spell level, not spell effect. So after his DM, your AS acted like a level (33,626-9,276)=24,350 AS would.

I don't see how the amount of minions would affect this, or I do not understand that part of your Q...

The amount of minions _use_ to effect your AS. But last change month Jon tweaked it so that DM gets subtracted first and then the effective level of AS based on number of minions was calculated. You were around for that though, so you should know.

I do know how to multiply with percentages ;)

Sorry, let me clarify. Before, your AS was calculated to a lower level based on how many minions you had. Then DM was subtracted from this lower number. This meant that you could have a higher AS then your opponents DM and yet still lose all you AS's granted HP.

Now the DM gets subtracted first. So now against an equal DM you will still retain an AS equal to 20% of what you had since DM only subtracts 80% of it's level.

Didn't mean to sound rude before, hope this helps.

try going to the wiki, I have explained some things there about Ablative Shield casting at higher and lower levels.

I got 4 minions and tattoo, but the way dm effects my AS is it goes after dropping the level of all 3 AS but in effect, all it does is basicly this:

Dm lowers Enchantments by 300k

AS gives 400k hp, when dm goes and effects the AS, I end up with basically 100k hp.

so all it does is dm effect - total hp I can cast= after dm cast hp :)

There is a little difference, right now I think it is either 5k difference or like 500. I used to have it at very low levels as only 35 extra hp or less hp than dm casting on it. Ok I am running on but anyways, 300k dm cast -200k total hp cast=100k hp after dm cast works out for me always.
