Protection. (in General)

I know nobody knows exactly how it works, but does anyone have even a *clue*? I'm curious. Post up your ideas on how it might work... I know it has a good effect and reduces damage and is dispelled by DM, but that's about it. Gimme ideas now.

Edit: I take that back. Jon knows exactly how it works. But nobody who would dare tell anyone knows how it works, so give me your suggestions as to what seems to be its way of working.

If not dispelled by DM, the number in the () is the % reduction of damage according to the following order:

AC then Endurance then Protection

That's the assumption. It will be very hard to prove. There are just some things we won't know until Jon releases more information (UC+Gi Evasion for example).

It doesn't seem to do that for me. For example, against a FB mage who hit 25-20k on me in ranged rounds with 13 prot, I put on RoS and fought him with 24 prot and got hit for 14k. (2 minion team, 2nd ranged round is what I counted each time. Either way, it was a pretty consistent difference, and that doesn't *look* like a 10% damage decrease to me. I think there's some special little formula goin' on here that Jon uses...

The effective level could be a minimum amount of reduction, much like how the MgS was set up.

That seems more likely, considering what I saw in my battles vs. what happens with higher protection against higher damages. But who knows. Anyone else got any ideas of how it could work?
