Blacksmith Idea (in General)

Relic September 26 2005 6:25 PM EDT

How about being able to re-forge an item into another item for the average market cost? i.e...

I have an exbow and want an axbow, you can pay the Blacksmith the average price over networth and your exbow will become a base axbow. This could be incorporated into two-handed weapons can become two-handed weapons and so forth.

Just throwing this out there. I didn't put much thought into it. :P Which might be a bad thing. /me braces for the flamers...

didn't this idea already got discussed about and told that it was a no go? i would like the idea but it would need to be thought out very good...

"This could be incorporated into two-handed weapons can become two-handed weapons and so forth."

I suppose you mean from two-handed to one-handed? Or from BoNE to MH or something?

Well, the re-inking of tattoos which arguably are the most powerful items in the game hasn't created too much imbalance, I would think this would do similar things.

Relic September 26 2005 6:33 PM EDT

No, I mean like can only become like. Two-handed can ONLY become two-handed and so forth. Bows can become bows, helms can become helms, and obviously unforgeable items could not be re-forged.

AdminShade September 26 2005 6:34 PM EDT

I think it could only be implemented as the item having a certain price and that the formed item would have little lower stats (same degrading as the tattoos)

also it would make every high end weapon of that type being at the same cost + price of re forging it...

in other words:

ELS +500k => VB
BoNE +500k => MH

price of els / vb = same
price of bone / mh = same

I was thinking that after a re-forge was done, the new item would be base. That way as the market ebbs and flows and the average price over networth in the meta-stats changes, so to would the cost of re-forging. Also, once an item was re-forged it could never be re-forged again, something along those lines.

So it's like when someone gave Jon a pair of BGs +11 they got back AGs +0. Makes me wonder where Glory got this crazy idea. Hmmmm...

Relic September 26 2005 6:53 PM EDT

Actually that didn't even enter my mind. It was more the tattoo artist that spawned the idea.

Hmmm if we're going this way how about Kinda the same for armor BUT way diff:
armor blending, like take a pair of Tulk's & EG's & combine them to get the strength & magic bonus or is it dex?

or CoI & EC for the magic & dex, adam/MC =AC & less penalties
IF TSA's were still here TSA/MC combo would rock, anyway see where Im going & no thought was put into it either lol

or how about If the BS took deposits on upgrades, like if your next upgrade is say 3M & you only have 2 & might spend it deposit it in the BS for future sevices

I believe that idea has come up before and squashed due to extreme overpowering that could occur. I could combine two Corns and get 4% per + instead of 2%. I don't want to squash the idea completely because it might have merit, but it doesn't really have much in connection with my re-forging idea. :P
