Why everyone score is so low ? (in General)

Duke September 29 2005 2:10 AM EDT

Everyone score is much lower that it was 2 week ago? anyone have a idea why?

trigun September 29 2005 2:25 AM EDT

karma..wat comes up must go down..hehe or maybe people at the bottom are beating people at the top easier?^_^

sssimmo September 29 2005 3:29 AM EDT

What goes up, must come down. That isn't karma, thats gravity :P

Grim Reaper September 29 2005 3:35 AM EDT

There is a darn barrier I think I pulled down a bit too low :(

I remember fighting these guys like 2-3 weeks ago they were at 700-900k score and now I fight same guys who are at 680-900k :( it is worse cuz they are all at 700-850k with 2 900k's just added :)

gooey muppet September 29 2005 3:38 AM EDT

I'd say it was because of the DD modification but this down-trend started before the post.

*shrug*

Grim Reaper September 29 2005 3:58 AM EDT

Then it was either because of derek, Kitty, and me. Or it was from certain top players that used to keep the score increase go smooth decided to like ranger and dawg and buy up ton of usd so no one could get passed them forcing players to fight down.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] September 29 2005 4:39 AM EDT

My score is higher than ever

[T]Vestax September 29 2005 4:43 AM EDT

Tormentor, that second conclusion you had is just silly because that has been going on for months. Your first conclusion is plausible though.

To illustrate the plausibility let's just suppose that I personally spent a lot of real money to get a sudden increase in NW. I then start to fight people say 200k to 300k levels higher then me in score. Yet, my score doesn't simply rise. Instead my score and the score of the people I beat equalize somewhere in the middle. Then everyone who farms them also gets lowered as well and so on and so forth. This effect is even more obvious when a person raises faster and higher.

BUT, I pretty much feel that this has close to nothing to do with it. I remember exactly when scores started to fall. It happened sometime after Almuric changed his strat, plummeted, and completely reworked the order of the top ten briefly. Almuric is back in his rightful place now and I'm sure thing will equalize eventually.

Though it may be the whole chain of events, Almuric, then Kitty and Derek, then the magic tweak, that has cause this to extend as long as it has.

Grim Reaper September 29 2005 4:53 AM EDT

but how could a magic tweak cause players to still beat same players yet have scores drop

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] September 29 2005 5:00 AM EDT

The magic tweak could mean the ToA teams like imp get less draws V certain mage teams and don't raise their scores up as much as they did.

Grim Reaper September 29 2005 5:01 AM EDT

Too bad we all can't work together to bring Ranger and Dawg's scores down greatly :)

AdminShade September 29 2005 5:35 AM EDT

blame it on the newbs that attack people and increase their own scores.

my score got shot down from 800k to 680k in 7 hours :(

meh ill get up again

empty orchestra September 29 2005 5:50 AM EDT

i don't think it was all the dd nerf.
others and i noticed some deflation at least one day before the dd change.
i'm not saying the nerf didn't contribute, but i think other factors are at work too. i'm with the theory of higher fighting low mpr types. not that there's anything wrong with that.

empty orchestra September 29 2005 6:03 AM EDT

on second thought, maybe we should just blame the nub and call it a day... =P
/me ducks

Grim Reaper September 29 2005 6:40 AM EDT

It's true, higher mprs are fighting lower ones. I am being farmed by people who at 1.5mill score, I am only 875k score now.

IndependenZ September 29 2005 6:43 AM EDT

So I'm not the only one? I've been fighting pretty much the same people and watched
my score go from 860k to 700k as well. I hope it'll go back up someday. :)

gooey muppet September 29 2005 6:46 AM EDT

my score went from 1.1 mil to 850k. But i noticed everyone in my fightlist went down as well.

[T]Vestax September 29 2005 7:08 AM EDT

Stop it people!! A new player's raise can't possibly be that much of a factor, _cause that's been going on the whole time_. As much as I made it seem plausible it really isn't. It can only explain why scores drop _over time_ or why scores stay down _once they get there_.

No, the sudden drop in score in a matter of a day had to be because of one singular event that did not happen over time but rather instantly. That event just so happened to happen the very day that Almuric changed his strat and fell drastically in his own score.

That is what happens when a top 4 player does that so just stop blaming new player before I bust a vein..

[T]Vestax September 29 2005 7:13 AM EDT

Sorry about that, I'm tired and need sleep. Good night people

empty orchestra September 29 2005 7:15 AM EDT

that makes sense i guess, but i still say it has to do with the other things mentioned as well. kind of like a "perfect storm" of events.

btw, for the record, my nub reply was infused with sarcasm. just to make myself clear.

NSFY September 29 2005 9:18 AM EDT

It is Yohan's fault. I suggest we get his strategy nerfed. The worst part is we can't even blame it on the NUB! http://www.carnageblender.com/inspect_opponent.tcl?opponent_id=9371

Duke September 29 2005 11:34 AM EDT

Blaming the NUB sound like a good idea to me.

Relic September 29 2005 11:35 AM EDT

My score has increased by about 300K. Also my fightlist scores have increased also.

Special J September 29 2005 1:10 PM EDT

OH, look Glory has to come in a negate the whole conversation.

Thanks *SO* much Glory!

My score has gone down nearly 400k since the decline started.

Starseed^Lure September 29 2005 2:23 PM EDT

I don't think Glory's addition bears to heavily on this dialogue, since we are discussing a drop of scores between the ranges of ~700-900. Not that his point is unrelated, but that his data should not be considered in the same context of the previous given data.

I have no idea why this happens, but I do know that it does happen. It may only effect a small range of PR. It may effect high, medium or low pr ranges. I've observed it while playing, 3 times. Each time previous to this one I lost a significant portion of my score and then that portion was gained back. The rate at which I gained has always been slower than the rate I lost it.

My point is that I believe that the scores will restore themselves, if not slowly, over time. And if I'm correct, Glory's should plummet. Ok, I made that one up... XD

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] September 29 2005 2:42 PM EDT

Person A has 900k score

Person A gets his score like this by beating up on person B

Person B's score gets lower by beating person C

Person D beats up person A and lowers his score

Person A continues to lower Person B's score, which lowers person C's score

Eventually, A-Z (all in the same score area) keep beating up on eachother, making score "clumps"

trigun September 29 2005 10:35 PM EDT

if we only had a score vs population graph..hehe and congrats to yohan for his strat..under 300k mpr and already beating the score of people with 400-500k mpr..^_^

Grim Reaper September 29 2005 10:51 PM EDT

I think we have reached the great depression of cb2.

(CB1)logan666 [Jago] September 29 2005 11:01 PM EDT

The "Great Depression of CB" happened last December. Those who where here then know what I'm talking about.

Undertow September 30 2005 4:56 AM EDT

lol, yah. I think CB1 is worth more now than it was then

Jerk September 30 2005 6:11 AM EDT

so if its not a depression would this be considered a recession like in the 80's? I know alot of you were either infants or not even born in the 80's but for the old timers here you will know what it was like then.

Duke October 2 2005 3:49 PM EDT

Score are back to normal now.

Will [Retired] October 2 2005 4:08 PM EDT

they sure are! Ive gained about 100k + in the past day and a bit :D

Special J October 2 2005 6:01 PM EDT

My score is getting back to it's inflated position.

chappy [Soup Ream] October 2 2005 6:02 PM EDT

I too have gained approx 100k on my score ... but I have also added a couple new people to my fav list

either way .. w00t!

Grim Reaper October 3 2005 3:49 AM EDT

I just hit 1mill score :)

Starseed^Lure October 3 2005 10:23 AM EDT

Just as predicted, I'm seeing a health score recovery..... still strange.

Undertow October 3 2005 11:25 AM EDT

I theorize that it has to do with everyone adding new people to thier fight list on Sunday, thereby gaining score, and then over the course of the week things level back out.

Special J October 3 2005 11:38 AM EDT

I belive undertow has found the nail and hit it with the hammer of truth!

Starseed^Lure October 3 2005 11:51 AM EDT

no, that is not the explanation, otherwise this would happen every week and we can clearly see that it does not.

I think that is has to do with the way scores are mathematically calculated. I've seen this trend 3 times now and every time the plummet of score is preceded by a long build up of score. At the apex of the score, my score and many people around me seem to have over inflated scores; then they spike and plummet over the course of a day or so.
It seems that the scores within a level will stabilize and build maybe because people are fighting only those who thye know they will win against. By minimizing losses, the scores are allowed to build until they reach a 'critical mass'; a point where they can no longer build. This is the one part I don't understand: what queues the plummet? It's an interesting phenomenon, but I don't think we'll be able to figure the solution without a better understanding of Jons score formulas.

NSFY October 3 2005 12:29 PM EDT

I agree with the Seeker - I have seen zero correlation between the part of the week and the scores plummeting.

When you have a new hammer, everything looks like a nail. PEACE!

[T]Vestax October 3 2005 12:40 PM EDT

My theory still holds.

Starseed^Lure October 3 2005 1:25 PM EDT

I agree Vestax. You and I seem to be, more or less, on the same page.

empty orchestra October 3 2005 1:31 PM EDT

my score is back up too. probably cause i finally broke down and gave up on EC.

Will [Retired] October 3 2005 3:22 PM EDT

theories theories theories...
Its just because of the mage nerf and the addition of the AGs. Because of the change, people decided to fight different people. Normally people contented themselves with the same fightlist. The re-shuffled rankings lowered the score of each character. Consider a box of cereal, if you shake it, the cereal will compact down to the bottom of the box.

The remedy for low scores and low rewards? Inflated scores. This means not regularly changing or adding to your fightlist. With inflated scores, we all get better rewards. However, the best rewards are the prize of the people who regularly edit their fightlists. Something to ponder over perhaps.... :)

Starseed^Lure October 4 2005 8:00 AM EDT

will, that could have contributed to the fall after the fact, but we noticed the trend starting before the mage change. Not that it doesn't have anything to do with it, but that an event caused this preceding it.
