Battle log improvements (in Changelog)
AdminJonathan
October 6 2005 11:08 PM EDT
Verifex's changes are the flashiest so far; Wonderpuff's battle log changes are possibly the most useful.
Check out the "summary" mode in your recent battles.

For the record, I added that one. If it breaks (one bug report so far) send me a note at rdpettit@gmail.com. I'm coming through tomorrow night to take another pass at things and I'll look at it then.

ok,
click show battle summary, click show 1000 battle summary (takes you to show 1000 battle instead?) click show only losses gives a server error,
also is their anyway we could get this to do just show 24 hour?
and another side point....are we sure this isn't a change month O_o?

Yeah, I'm finding a few little bugs now that it's more than just me and verifex playing with it.
Maybe it's junior tester month? :)
Wonderpuff
October 6 2005 11:48 PM EDT
Maelstrom, a description of how you managed to raise the error will ultimately prove much more useful than the error message itself.

Awesome change - is there any way draws could be separated from stalemates and the list be sortable by wins or win percentage?
Wonderpuff
October 7 2005 12:12 AM EDT
Yeah, I can separate those out. For some reason on my first pass through I overlooked stalemates entirely. For resorting, wait till I get the bugs with current functionality straightened out.

Wonderpuff, the error I had earlier was simply when I clicked on the "Show Battle Summary" link.
It's working fine now, and I must say, that is very impressive and useful!
I do have a small complaint: at the top of the page, you have links for "Show Battle Detail" and "Show 1000 Battle Summary", but these are actually links for "Show 70 most recent battles" and "Show 1000 most recent battles" - more descriptive/consistent link names would help.
And I have a question: why is it "...in last 2759 battles" - is that the number of battles I've fought in the last x days, or what?

another really awsome addition... CB just gets better and better!

October 7 2005 2:27 AM EDT
Oh no! Now people can easily access things I may already know. I guess it no longer pays to carefully monitor battle logs. Oh well, thanks. : )
Great additions, now could you please add over all average win % and average rounds as Attacker and Defender?

October 7 2005 3:09 AM EDT
Now, that's a useful change! Like it like it like it!!!! Shame you've now made it easy for everyone to do what I do with my fightlist! LOL
good one!

October 7 2005 4:27 AM EDT
This is one hefty, sweet, amazingly awesome implementation...
To be able to quickly see who loses, draws and wins against you when you were defending, and also see a summary of what your own wins draws and losses are.
great :)

excellent addition, well done.

October 7 2005 5:29 AM EDT
OK, so I'm gonna be devils advocate.
Do we really want everyone to inspect our characters in this much detail? Yes, for sure it was possible to do this before if you were prepared to get into the nitty gritty - but you had to work for it and it wasn't just placed right in front of your face with the click of the button.
I for one wouldn't mind if I was only able to view my own battle summary but not that of others around me.
Also, wouldn't it be great if you could see your average rewards for those battles - now that's something I'd really like to see via a click of a button :)
Love the added info, guys, but I'm with Beee. I'd much rather if I'm the only who can see my stats -- everybody else who wants to know should have to figure it out for themselves. Though, yes, it's laugh-out-loud funny to check out who actually bothers to fight the noob possibles just to be sure of who is still ahead & by how much.

Pointing out a small cosmetic thing.
In the defensive table random entry would look something like this
Name - name won/lost/drew win %
Enemy - coffee storm 203/0/0 100.00
It looks like I've beaten the attacker 203 times with 100% win %. But actually it's just other way around. I've lost 203 times and with 100% losing %.
AdminShade
October 7 2005 8:21 AM EDT
thats exactly what is displayed, enemy has a 100% win against you...

October 7 2005 9:57 AM EDT
Well, there are some updates tonight to fix bugs. One of those wil likely be to limit the query length to a smaller timeframe (24 hours). That should serve to limit the "A Complete History of Joe" effect somewhat.
I think this might be the first change that didn't get anyone threatening to quit.
What's going on around here?
:-D
[T]Vestax
October 7 2005 10:29 AM EDT
It seems that the record generated by this is far more then a day old. My opinion is that the summary should only consider the last 24 hours or up until the last cache flush.
If this record was to extend to the life of the character then it slowly but surely will become a useless stat page with little to no meaning. Your most recent battle are still the most important and I think that ultimately the utility of this information can go no further then a weeks worth in my opinion.
Now, is there a time limit to the recorded data or am I griping for no reason?
When you click on my recent battles
and then click on Show Battle Summary
and then click on show 1000 Battle Summary
and then click on show only lost battles you recieve an error.
I know that sounds like a lot but I'm just trying to help.
I love this change though thanks guys

vestax, see post 2 above yours :)
yeah, i believe instead of saying:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Win / Loss / Draw
Blah defeated smallpau1 (12x) - - - - - - 0.....12......0
Instead of....
Blah defeated smallpau1 (12x) - - - - - - 12.....0.......0
Just because its you that lost to someone.
I really like this otherwise, its just a little confusing looking at and seeing win next to a battle you lost in. Awesome job, i just wish it was implemented when i still fought...lol.
*Thumbs Up*

instead of the 24 hours effect, make it more like the last 3000 battles, somewhere around there - so you can see who messed up and attacked you, who you attacked and drew to every time before and now could be, something like that....I don't know, I'm rambling. It sounds good in my mind, though.
i LOVE this change!

Any chance of being able to sort the Battle Summary ... I think right now it is by the timestamp so the ability to sort by battles won, or lost, or maybe the average rounds .. could be useful :)

I'm loving this new feature, but I'm with a few of the previous people, should switch around the defenses, because it looks like I'm doing so good when it shows 100% win. Maybe put it as your loss %?

Sortability on any column? Would be nice to know at a glance who I draw to the most, without scrolling around, etc.

maybe the colours for the bottom table should be switched around to make it less confusing. Like erhm, the battles that we won (which is the 'Lost' column) should be green and the battles that we lost (which is the 'Won' column) should be pink.. if you get what i mean :) should make it much easier to read..

just wondering:
we now can see the total average of winning %, could we also have that for average rounds?

What happened to the thing at the top of the recent battles page that said "You have participated in _ battles, of which you have won __, or _%"?
AdminShade
October 10 2005 1:36 PM EDT
click on the 24 hour summary...
Score / PR / MPR: 18,650 / 1,764 / 13,021
what happened? It used to read:
Score / PR / MPR: 18,650 / 13,021 / 13,021
So that I would know that I was indeed under my allowance.
So what is the 1,764 now? is that what I'm allowed at my level or how much I'm over my allowance?
PS Love the battle log 24 hour summary.

lol it could only happen to me.... :P
back to normal now, I didn't know if you guys were playing with stuff or not.
I mentioned this before, but is there any chance of making the new Battle Log sortable? Ability to sort by name / win% / # of wins / # of losses / draws ... this would be helpful to me ...
Anybody?
chappy's idea would be cool if wonderpuff can implement that ;p
