robot checker (in General)

i'm new to CB2 and got booted(sent to time out for one hour) last night for incorrectly repeating the testword to the "checker" twice. the first check I failed was a typo(my fault) and the second was an unintelligible word that I guessed at and failed. Hence the one hour penalty box! Is there an appeal I could have taken that let me back in without paying the 20k fine that was the only offered alternative?

AdminJonathan October 24 2005 11:31 AM EDT

no, I'm afraid not.

hammer killem October 24 2005 11:34 AM EDT

thx...by the way great game and cute kid!

It takes a little time to get used to reading the words on the bot check. Everyone finds it difficult at first but you will get the hang of it in time - so don't worry about that.
To help you get used to it faster there's a "bot check trainer" that you can practice with. You can find it by following: Tools >> Community >> User-maintained CB sites >> Stump's Page O CB Tools.

Regarding an appeal - alas no, there's no option to recover your 20k. Instead of paying the 20k fine you do have the option to accept the one hour fight ban.
If you have chat enabled get yourself into the New Players (NP) chatroom and get to know some of the folks there. Most people will be happy to help you with game tips from Strategy detail to which links to follow for best advice etc...

can someone explain the two numbers in parentheses that are on my home page and copied here? and the difference in the two FB and DM numbers?

Fireball: 5,918/6,230 (751) Dispel Magic: 3,893/4,045 (3,114)

thx Hammer

The number between parentheses is the spell's effect. Different spells have different effects, so these numbers vary between spells. It's like comparing apples with oranges...

AdminShade October 24 2005 12:01 PM EDT

that last question should be posted in a separate thread but i will answer it:

those are the effects of the spells...

hammer killem October 24 2005 12:13 PM EDT

so is the (751) beside FB a good/bad, strong/weak, and out of how many (751/xxxxx) type number? The answer I've gotten both times I've asked is that it's the "effect". OK, what is "effect" and what is it's relevance?
same question for Dispel Magic. thx

bartjan October 24 2005 12:25 PM EDT

What the effect of a spell is, that depends on the spell. In the case of Dispell Magic, it's the amount of levels that gets reduced to whatever enchantment that is cast on the same minion(s) this Dispell Magic is cast on. The effect for Dispell Magic just happens to be at exactly 80% of the spell level.

For Fireball, the effect is a number that's used as a basis to determine the damage the spell does. Other factors can reduce (armor, protection, anti magic field and so on) or increase (fewer than 5 opposing minions) the actual damage, but Fireball's effect will give a starting figure. I just think of it as 'bigger=better'.

hammer killem October 24 2005 1:20 PM EDT

so how do you increase the FB effect?

bartjan October 24 2005 1:26 PM EDT

Train

hammer killem October 24 2005 2:30 PM EDT

so do I take off armors?

AdminShade October 24 2005 2:33 PM EDT

you don't have any armor equipped...

hammer killem October 24 2005 2:37 PM EDT

i only just did to test the effective (X) change on home page and fought a couple to test results. still don't know which is best , armors/no armors.

AdminShade October 24 2005 3:46 PM EDT

currently you don't have any armor equipped, also there is armor without magic penalties...
